About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated COBOL Developer to join our team on a six-month contractual basis, with a strong potential for extension. This role is pivotal in using approved programming languages, operating systems, and source code to develop, enhance, and maintain application solutions that meet both functional and non-functional business requirements. Key Responsibilities: Develop application solutions in a COBOL/DB2/CICS environment based on specifications from our Requirements Analysts and Application Integration Architect. Assist in migrating current systems to a cloud environment, utilizing existing COBOL code. Create and execute unit tests and functional test coverage for coding changes to ensure quality. Conduct testing of application software modifications using various programming platforms and tools, ensuring accuracy. Participate in code reviews and broader technical reviews to detect defects in requirements, design, code, test cases, or other project artifacts. Document all code changes meticulously. Support Senior Developers in task management, including work effort recording and time estimation. Assist in the design and development of proof of concept and prototype application environments. Develop and maintain code repositories in line with version management practices. Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating basis for systems and applications in production, including incident and problem management, code corrections, upgrades, and patches. Requirements: Proficient in COBOL programming and strong knowledge of SQL/DB2. Experience in COBOL/DB2/CICS environments. Familiarity with cloud migration projects and the ability to utilize existing COBOL code in cloud environments. Solid understanding of code construction fundamentals, data use, control concepts, and error-detection practices. Ability to identify, evaluate, and participate in the mitigation of risks. U.S. citizenship is required to meet federal security clearance requirements. Must be a resident of Pennsylvania.
