The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mainframe-based ETL development and strong knowledge of Teradata database technologies. As a Mainframe ETL Developer with Teradata, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from mainframe systems into Teradata data warehouses. Responsibilities: ETL Development: Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, and VSAM. Develop and optimize SQL scripts and stored procedures for data extraction, transformation, and loading in Teradata. Data Modeling: Work with data architects and business analysts to design data models for Teradata databases based on business requirements. Develop and maintain logical and physical data models for data warehouse solutions. Performance Tuning: Identify and implement performance tuning strategies to optimize ETL processes and improve data load performance in Teradata. Monitor and analyze system performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Data Integration: Integrate data from multiple sources, including mainframe systems, relational databases, and flat files, into Teradata data warehouses. Develop and maintain data integration solutions using ETL tools such as Informatica, IBM DataStage, or Ab Initio. Quality Assurance: Implement data validation checks and ensure data accuracy and integrity throughout the ETL process. Collaborate with QA teams to develop and execute test plans and ensure compliance with data quality standards. Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain technical documentation, including ETL design documents, data mappings, and process flows. Generate reports and provide status updates on ETL development activities to project stakeholders. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data architects, business analysts, and system administrators, to deliver high-quality ETL solutions. Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and resolve issues. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in ETL development on mainframe platforms, with proficiency in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and SQL. Strong knowledge of Teradata database technologies, including Teradata SQL, BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, and Teradata Utilities. Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, IBM DataStage, or Ab Initio. Solid understanding of data modeling concepts and techniques. Experience with performance tuning and optimization of ETL processes in Teradata. Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and methodologies. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications: Teradata certification (e.g., Teradata Certified Professional). Experience with mainframe modernization initiatives, such as migration to cloud platforms or modern data architectures. Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Python, Java, or Perl. Experience with version control systems such as Git or Subversion.
