This role requires a deep understanding of data structures, databases, and migration methodologies. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders including project managers, developers, and end-users to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of data migration processes. Key Responsibilities: Data Analysis: Analyze existing data structures and sources to understand the complexity and dependencies involved in the migration process. Identify potential challenges and develop strategies to address them. Migration Planning: Develop comprehensive migration plans outlining the scope, timeline, resources, and risk mitigation strategies. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives and technical requirements. Data Mapping and Transformation: Define data mapping rules and transformation logic to convert data from source to target formats while maintaining accuracy and consistency. Implement data cleansing and validation processes as needed. Tool Selection and Configuration: Evaluate and select appropriate migration tools or develop custom scripts/utilities to facilitate data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes. Configure tools according to project requirements and optimize performance. Testing and Validation: Develop test cases and conduct rigorous testing to validate the accuracy and completeness of migrated data. Collaborate with quality assurance teams and end-users to address any issues or discrepancies identified during testing. Documentation and Reporting: Create detailed documentation including migration plans, technical specifications, and operational procedures. Generate progress reports and communicate updates to stakeholders regularly. Post-Migration Support: Provide support and troubleshooting assistance during the post-migration phase to ensure a smooth transition and address any data-related issues that may arise. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, best practices, and industry standards related to data migration. Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Proven experience (X years) in data migration projects, preferably in enterprise-level environments. Proficiency in database technologies such as SQL, Oracle, MySQL, etc. Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, SSIS). Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, PowerShell) for automation and data manipulation. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Project management experience and relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile) are a plus.
