This role requires expertise in Mainframe technologies, particularly Natural, as well as a strong understanding of database management systems and software development principles. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality software that meets business needs. Key Responsibilities: Software Development: Design, code, test, and debug software applications using the Natural programming language within the Mainframe environment. Develop efficient and scalable solutions that adhere to coding standards and best practices. Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with business analysts, system architects, and end-users to gather and analyze requirements for new software applications or enhancements to existing systems. Translate business requirements into technical specifications and design documents. System Design and Architecture: Participate in the design and architecture of software systems, including data models, program structures, and interface designs. Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of the applications meet business requirements. Database Management: Develop and maintain database schemas, data dictionaries, and data access routines using Mainframe database management systems (e.g., Adabas). Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity and security. Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop test plans, test cases, and automated test scripts to validate the functionality and performance of software applications. Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and regression testing to identify and address defects. Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation including design documents, code comments, and user manuals. Ensure documentation is comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date to facilitate knowledge sharing and future maintenance. Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, system administrators, and business stakeholders to deliver software solutions on time and within budget. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for production issues as needed. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to Mainframe development and Natural programming. Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency gains.
