Role Overview: The Engineering Director is responsible for overseeing the technical direction, strategy, and execution of IT projects within the organization. This role involves managing a team of engineers, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of IT solutions aligned with business objectives, and who can talk as confident as a Java Fullstack Architect and play the role of an Engineering Program Manager while managing the expectations of IT Directors and Vice Presidents from client organization very effectively. Key Responsibilities: Lead and inspire a team of IT engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Define and communicate the engineering teams vision, mission, and goals. Develop and execute a strategic technical roadmap in alignment with the overall business strategy for large Application portfolio of Java / Springboot / Micro services tech stack based Applications Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, assessing their potential impact on the organization. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure the successful planning and execution of IT projects. Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources, making adjustments as necessary to ensure successful delivery. Collaborate with other stakeholders across Sales, Delivery, Practice, WMG, Talent Transformation, HR to ensure seamless delivery of commitment to customer with overall organizational objectives at centre. Define and maintain technical architecture standards, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency of IT systems. Provide oversight and guidance on system design and architecture decisions. Establish and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes. Implement and monitor code reviews and testing procedures to maintain high-quality deliverables. Work with HR and project managers to plan and allocate resources effectively, ensuring the right skill sets are available for current and future projects. Collaborate with finance and executive leadership to create and manage the engineering budget. Optimize resource utilization to maximize efficiency while minimizing costs. Identify and mitigate technical and project-related risks. Develop contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges and minimize project disruptions. Evaluate third-party vendors and technologies to determine their suitability for integration into the organizations IT infrastructure. Negotiate and manage vendor contracts as needed. Strong understanding of IT systems, software development methodologies, and emerging technologies. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on problem-solving. Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
