Were looking for a content manager and strategist to join the team and manage content for the MTA. Primarily, youll be responsible for moving the content from web.mta.info to new.mta.info . This will mean working with stakeholders across multiple agencies to ensure their content is accurate, while rewriting and reorganizing it to be more customer centric. Youll also be helping create web content for high-profile projects like the L project, the Bus Network Redesign, and Fast Forward. If you love explainers or if youve ever looked at a government website and thought, What is this, this is the job for you. Were hoping youll be able to think big picture, structuring entire sections and advising on IA. We also need you to roll up your sleeves, rewriting and editing content. Even basic things like uploading and organizing files. At first, youll be working alone, though youll have support from your technical colleagues and marketing teams across the MTA. Eventually, youll also be an evangelist and trainer on the websites CMS, and your role will transition to more of an editor for the teams across the MTA publish their content. This could be someone with a marketing or journalism background, but we need someone who can both write and has an eye for web layout. Your audience will be more than 8 million people per day - and you will be on the front lines of modernizing the MTA. Responsibilities: Help create an Information Architecture for new.mta.info . Migrate content from web.mta.info to new.mta.info , rewriting and reorganizing it to be more customer centric. Coordinate with multiple stakeholders across multiple agencies to ensure their content is findable. Keep mta.info up to date, including basic updates. Work with the product team to build new CMS tools and features, serving as the main evangelist for content editors. Recruit editors and writers from various agencies within the MTA, training them on the CMS and showing them how to update their sections of the website themselves. Manage all site updates, approving changes from the various agencies. Own and update a set of text and language standards for the MTA, potentially including voice and tone. Qualifications: Superior writing ability, including enthusiasm for writing at a lower grade level and simplifying complicated ideas. You should love understanding and explaining things to people. Experience in marketing, journalism, communications, or some other field where you were forced to write for the public and meet deadlines. Experience with a CMS (Drupal, WordPress, or something similar). Some experience with content design, or at least strong opinions about web page layout. Ability to collaborate with senior management acros s the spectrum of an organization while advocating for customer-centric voice and tone. Experience with product or project management software including JIRA, Trello, Airtable, Asana, or something similar. Some experience with information architecture is a plus, but you should at least have strong opinions about website layouts and making content structured and discoverable.
