Position: Cobol Programmer/Analyst (Hybrid) Location: Columbia, SC (2-3 days/Onsite) Duration : 18 months Job Description . Minimum Required Education**: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - Degree Equivalency: 4 years of job-related work experience, or 2 years of job-related experience plus an associate s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. **Minimum Required Work Experience**: - 6 years of experience in application development, systems testing, or a related area. **Team**: Core Commercial Claims - **Team Size**: 60+ application development staff. - **Structure**: Divided into smaller groups for management; work completed in a matrixed environment based on staff skills and project requirements. - **Culture**: High priority on teamwork and collaboration, critical to the success of all projects. We value great people who work well together. **Required Technologies**: - COBOL - DB2 - Mainframe **Nice to Have**: - Native CICS - IMS DB **Day-to-Day Responsibilities**: - Conduct analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation of business requirements for core commercial (non-government) claims systems. - Collaborate effectively within a team environment. - Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. - Perform well under pressure and exhibit strong interpersonal and team-building skills. - Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees across IT. - Show initiative and a desire to learn and grow within the team. **What We Are Not Looking For**: - Entry-level candidates with less than 6 years of application development experience. - Skills focused solely on server-based technologies such as web development or systems infrastructure. **Desired Soft Skills**: - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to follow directions and adapt to changing requirements. - Initiative to learn and grow within the team.
