Role : AS/400 Consultant Location: Hybrid Menomonee Falls, WI Long term contract Job Description Main Tech Stack/Top Skills Needed: Proficiency in IBM AS/400 iSeries mainframe hardware and firmware layer Experience with IBM Power Systems 570s running OS version 5.3 Expertise in DS8300 storage array management and HMC setup Brief Summary/Project Details: We are seeking an AS/400 iSeries Mainframe Consultant to address critical issues within our infrastructure. Currently, we operate two pairs of IBM Power Systems 570s running OS version 5.3, supported by a DS8300 storage array with an associated HMC. Recently, the HMC encountered issues stemming from an expired Java certificate, resulting in the loss of three storage drives crucial to our disaster recovery pool. This incident has compromised our disaster recovery capabilities, necessitating urgent mitigation to safeguard our operations and mitigate potential risks. Key Responsibilities: Resolve HMC issues caused by Java certificate expiration, restoring functionality and ensuring system stability. Recover and reconfigure the DS8300 storage array to restore the disaster recovery environment. Collaborate with internal teams to implement interim measures and mitigate operational risks during the recovery process. Provide expertise and recommendations for enhancing system resilience and disaster recovery capabilities. Document processes, configurations, and resolutions for future reference and knowledge sharing. Qualifications: In-depth knowledge of IBM AS/400 iSeries mainframe hardware, firmware, and operating systems. Hands-on experience with IBM Power Systems 570s and OS version 5.3. Proficiency in managing DS8300 storage arrays and configuring HMC environments. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Preferred Additional Skills: Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and implementation. Experience with Java certificates and their management within HMC environments. Understanding of security best practices related to AS/400 iSeries environments.
