Role :: Business Analyst with Custody operations

Location :: Boston/Quincy MA

Duration :: 12 Months

Max rate $50 on C2C

We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Business Analyst with expertise in Capital Markets and Custody operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing, optimizing, and supporting custody-related processes and systems. This role requires a deep understanding of capital markets, asset servicing, and custody operations, including trade settlement, safekeeping, and corporate actions.

Key Responsibilities:

Custody Process Analysis & Optimization:

Analyze and document custody processes, including trade settlement, safekeeping of assets, income processing, corporate actions, and proxy voting.

Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to streamline operations, enhance client service, and reduce operational risks.

Work closely with front office, back office, and IT teams to implement process enhancements and ensure seamless integration.

System Implementation & Support:

Participate in the evaluation, selection, implementation, and enhancement of custody systems and related tools.

Provide ongoing support for custody systems, resolving issues and ensuring that they meet business and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with IT and operations teams to define and document system requirements and to ensure proper system functionality.

Data Management & Reporting:

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data related to custody operations, including client account management, asset movements, and corporate actions.

Develop and maintain reports and dashboards that provide insights into custody operations, such as settlement efficiency, asset holdings, and corporate action processing.

Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and deliver actionable insights to senior management.

Regulatory Compliance:

Stay informed about global regulatory requirements that impact custody operations, such as CSDR, AIFMD, and FATCA.

Ensure custody processes and systems comply with applicable regulations and industry standards.

Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory reports related to custody services.

Stakeholder Communication:

Act as the primary liaison between custody operations, front office, back office, and external stakeholders, including custodians, depositories, and regulatory bodies.

Gather and document business requirements from stakeholders and translate them into actionable specifications for system and process enhancements.

Present findings, analysis, and recommendations to senior management and project teams.

Project Management:

Lead and manage projects focused on improving custody operations, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives and manage risks effectively.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. A Masters degree or relevant certification (e.g., CFA, CAIA, PMP) is a plus.

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in capital markets, with a focus on custody operations.

Strong understanding of custody functions, including asset servicing, trade settlement, corporate actions, and client reporting.

Experience with financial instruments such as equities, fixed income, derivatives, and mutual funds.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in custody systems and platforms (e.g., SWIFT, Euroclear, Clearstream).

Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI).

Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) is preferred.

Soft Skills:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
