A potential second round interview may be held in person. Work Arrangement: Hybrid: Onsite work required from day one. Must work onsite two days a week (Wednesdays mandatory). Additional Details: Occasional minimal overtime may be required. Job Description Position: DBA Contractor We are seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. This is not a short-term contract, as we hope to eventually transition the selected candidate to a full-time employee if they are interested. If the candidate prefers to remain a contractor, we are open to that as well. Our primary goal is to find someone who meets our skill requirements. Key Responsibilities: Experience working in formal change control environments. Strong troubleshooting skills. Expected to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with two days onsite. On-call rotation may be required after an initial learning period, typically from Saturday morning to Monday morning. Overtime and weekend work is rare, pre-scheduled, and must be approved by our customer. Assist with ongoing tasks such as weekly data fixes (Thursday and Friday). Environment: Current Database Setup: Predominantly Sybase with SQL Server. Future Plans: Transition from Sybase to a fully SQL Server environment within the next three years. Sybase: Running Sybase 15.7 on Solaris in an X86 hardware environment within the local network. SQL Server: Mixed versions of SQL Server on different versions of Windows Server. Upcoming project to update the SQL Server environment. Both on-premises servers and Azure-based servers are in use. Required Skills and Experience: Strong experience with Sybase ASE 15.7 and SQL Server. Unix background with experience running and developing CRON jobs and working with command lines. Sybase 15.7 experience, even at a junior DBA level, to assist senior DBAs in reducing overall time for implementations, especially after hours. Experience with Windows Servers, SQL Server clusters, and Disaster Recovery in development, test, and production environments.
