Title: SCALA Lead Developer / Architect Location: Houston, TX - Day 1 Onsite Duration: Long Term Contract Must Haves: SCALA, SQL Nice to Haves: Azure Databricks & Data factory Experience: 8-10 years of software development experience, with at least 5 years in Scala development. Seeking an experienced SCALA Lead Developer / Architect to join the dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable applications using Scala. Will lead a team of developers, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. Expertise will drive architectural decisions, ensuring the performance, scalability, and maintainability of our applications. Key Responsibilities: Architectural Design: Lead the design and architecture of scalable applications using Scala and related technologies. Development Leadership: Oversee the development process, ensuring best practices in coding, testing, and deployment. Team Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, QA, and DevOps teams to define requirements and ensure successful project delivery. Code Review: Conduct regular code reviews to maintain code quality and encourage adherence to coding standards. Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, implementing optimizations as necessary. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system architecture, processes, and coding standards. Research & Development: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, and advocate for their adoption when beneficial. Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Scala and functional programming paradigms. Experience with frameworks such as Akka, Play, or Spark. Familiarity with microservices architecture and RESTful API design. Knowledge of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL). Understanding of CI/CD practices and tools. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes). Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.
