Operational Leadership: Assume full responsibility for telecom operations in the Director's absence. Technical Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert in Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unified Communications, and related technologies. System Administration: Oversee telecom systems' administration, maintenance, and optimization to ensure maximum uptime and performance. Project Management: Lead telecom-related projects, including planning, execution, and implementation. Team Management: Mentor and develop a high-performing telecom team. Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with telecom vendors and service providers. Cost Management: Develop and implement cost-effective telecom solutions. Problem Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve complex telecom issues. Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry regulations and compliance standards. On-Site Operations: Manage telecom operations at Rikers Island's Main Communications building. Fieldwork: Occasionally visit jail facilities on Rikers Island to address telecom-related issues. Qualifications: Proven track record in telecom consulting with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Advanced knowledge of Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unified Communications, and other relevant telecom technologies. Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to think strategically and solve complex problems. Strong leadership and team management skills. Bachelor's degree in telecommunications, computer science, or a related field preferred. Ability to work in a challenging and secure environment. Must have: Experience with [other relevant telecom technologies, e.g., VoIP, SIP, Unified Messaging] Industry certifications (e.g., CCNP Voice, CCIE Collaboration) Experience in cloud-based telecommunication solutions Knowledge of network infrastructure and security best practices This is a critical role requiring a highly skilled telecom professional to lead the Forerunner to Cisco VoIP migration while providing ongoing strategic support and operational leadership for the telecom function, including on-site management at Rikers Island and occasional visits to jail facilities.
