This process will move very fast! Overview: We are seeking a skilled API Engineer to join our security-driven engineering team. This fully remote role requires strong expertise in Kotlin, microservices architecture, API integration, and Single Sign-On (SSO) systems. The API Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and securing API solutions while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. This position is ideal for a technically proficient engineer with a focus on secure API development who is comfortable working in a distributed team. Key Responsibilities: API Development & Integration: Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable RESTful APIs using Kotlin within a microservices architecture. Integrate APIs across services, ensuring efficient, reliable, and secure data transfer between systems. Implement and manage API authentication and authorization, including SSO solutions, to support secure and seamless access. Security & Compliance: Follow security best practices in all API development and integration tasks, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Conduct risk-based API testing to identify potential vulnerabilities and work with the security team to address them. Collaborate on security reviews, supporting adherence to protocols and continuous improvement in security posture. Project Management & Collaboration: Use JIRA to document and track tasks, ensuring project transparency and progress in a remote work setting. Utilize Git for version control, maintaining a clean and organized codebase in collaboration with other developers. Work closely with team members in EST/CST time zones to align on project requirements, goals, and security standards. Continuous Improvement & Optimization: Contribute to performance optimization and refactoring efforts to enhance the stability and efficiency of API solutions. Participate in code reviews and collaborate with the team to maintain high coding standards. Stay updated on emerging security threats and technologies, ensuring ongoing security and performance improvements. Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in API development, with proficiency in Kotlin and microservices. Strong experience with RESTful APIs and API integration practices, including security-focused development. Proficiency in implementing and managing Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions. Experience with JIRA for project management and Git for version control. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote environment with EST/CST time zone availability. Preferred Qualifications: Background in Java development. Experience working in high-security environments or with security-centric applications. Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
