Looking (On-Site) || Chordiant Server Administration || Urbana, MD (Onsite) Role name: Engineer Role Description: The Senior Systems Engineer works collaboratively with other system engineers, developers, and leadership to provide back-end systems and application support for complex business applications. Responsibilities include systems administration and support, troubleshooting, project planning, systems integration, networking, performance monitoring, testing, and developing detailed documentation.The Senior Systems Engineer supports the development, test, integration, implementation, and deployment of complex systems that are related to network, storage, security, application, and database infrastructure. This role provides rapid resolution of internal and external users technical problems, and implements new projects in an effort to increase productivity and operating efficiency. The Senior Systems Engineer manages IT infrastructure requirements such as server administration, hardware/software selection, capacity, procurement, maintenance, upgrades, software licensing, replication and disaster recovery. Competencies: Chordiant Server Administration Experience (Years): 10 & Above Essential Skills: Responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance and monitoring of on premise and cloud server infrastructure. Provides third level support for Windows and Linux servers, network, firewalls, SAN, and the data center systems. Monitors system performance, implements corrective actions, and establishes plans for future system upgrades. Analyzes performance bottlenecks on network, systems and the overall IT infrastructure. Identifies and resolves issues, recommends innovative solutions to address new needs and/or issues and recommends enterprise upgrades, changes, or enhancements. Coordinates all maintenance activities including testing and scheduling for maintenance including ensuring that all change records have been approved prior to maintenance events. Designs, configures and installs server equipment and applications according to company standards and industry best practices. Establish monitoring requirements for servers and applications as well as develop and deploy alerting strategies. Plans, organizes, and conducts research on complex infrastructure and support issues that involve major areas of uncertainty in approach, methodology, or interpretation to identify appropriate solutions. Develops technical architecture documentation that details procedures for installation, maintenance, security, configuration, and disaster recovery. Researches ongoing and forward looking technologies and implements systems based on research and company needs. Desirable Skills: 10+ years experience in a production IT environment managing enterprise IT infrastructure, hardware, hosting service and network areas. 8+ years managing Windows Server, Linux, VMWare ESX, Email, DNS, networking, and storage environments. Extensive knowledge administering and managing Microsoft Windows Server operating systems. Extensive knowledge administering and managing VMWare ESX systems. Extensive understanding of network concepts and strong experience with network management. Experience managing on premise and cloud based email systems. Experience managing DNS and DHCP. Experience with Active Directory, Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS) and AD Connect. Experience managing storage environments. Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows and VMware environments. Proficiency with common Linux distributions. Worked with various application tiers including web, middleware and database. Proven experience and understanding of architecture principles across infrastructure platforms, security, data, integration and applications layers. Ability to write architectural design documents or review design documents provided by others. Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply trends to architectural needs. Experience administering various backup solutions including CommVault and various backup methodologies. Adhered to system engineering, documentation, change control, and deployment standards and policies.
