Job Title: IBM WebSphere Administrator/Developer Location: New York, NY (Day 1 Onsite) Job Type: Contract Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated IBM WebSphere Administrator/Developer to manage and support our WebSphere application server infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of WebSphere, along with a strong understanding of enterprise application deployment and integration. This role requires a proactive individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless operation of critical business applications. Key Responsibilities: 1. WebSphere Administration: Install, configure, and maintain IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) environments. Manage WebSphere clustering, high availability, and load balancing configurations. Perform patch management and upgrades for WebSphere and associated components. Monitor and optimize the performance of WebSphere servers, ensuring scalability and reliability. Troubleshoot WebSphere server issues, including JVM and application-related problems. Manage security configurations (SSL, authentication, authorization, etc.) in WebSphere. Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for WebSphere infrastructure. 2. Application Deployment and Configuration: Deploy and manage Java-based applications (WAR, EAR, JAR) on WebSphere Application Server. Configure and maintain web and enterprise applications, including data source configurations and JNDI settings. Automate deployment processes using tools like Jenkins, Maven, or similar CI/CD frameworks. Implement application tuning and performance enhancements for WebSphere-based applications. 3. Troubleshooting and Support: Provide Level 2 and 3 support for WebSphere issues. Perform root cause analysis of server/application issues and implement corrective actions. Work closely with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve application issues related to WebSphere. Monitor WebSphere logs, analyze performance, and ensure system health. 4. Collaboration & Documentation: Collaborate with infrastructure teams to plan and implement WebSphere installations, upgrades, and patches. Create and maintain system documentation for WebSphere configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting. Provide training and guidance to junior staff and other stakeholders on WebSphere best practices. Participate in capacity planning and environment optimization activities. Required Skills and Qualifications: Experience: 3+ years of experience in administering and configuring IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) in production environments. Experience with WebSphere versions 8.x, 9.x, or 10.x is highly preferred. Strong background in Java EE, JSP, Servlets, and other enterprise application technologies. Experience with application deployment and troubleshooting, including integration with databases, LDAP, and other enterprise services. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of WebSphere configuration and troubleshooting. Proficiency in WebSphere administrative tools, including wsadmin scripting, and deployment tools. Knowledge of performance tuning, memory management, JVM optimization, and garbage collection in WebSphere. Familiarity with load balancing and clustering strategies for WebSphere. Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Tivoli, Nagios, or similar tools). Hands-on experience with application servers, web servers (Apache, IBM HTTP Server), and middleware technologies. Additional Skills: Strong scripting skills (e.g., , Python, Jython) for automation tasks. Understanding of networking protocols (HTTP, SSL, SOAP, JMS). Experience with CI/CD tools and processes (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Maven). Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git, SVN). Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience. Certifications (optional but preferred): IBM Certified Administrator - WebSphere Application Server. Other relevant certifications in Java, middleware, or cloud technologies.
