Job Title: IBM InfoSphere DataStage Developer Location: [Chicago, IL Day 1 Onsite] Department: Data Engineering / Data Integration Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced IBM InfoSphere DataStage Developer to join our data engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL processes to integrate data across various systems. As an InfoSphere DataStage Developer, you will work with large datasets, ensuring the smooth transformation and loading of data into data warehouses, databases, and other storage systems. You will also be responsible for optimizing performance and troubleshooting issues with ETL processes. Key Responsibilities: ETL Development: Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using IBM InfoSphere DataStage to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into target systems (e.g., data warehouses, cloud platforms). Data Integration: Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements for data integration, ensuring data quality and consistency. Performance Tuning: Optimize DataStage jobs to ensure efficient data processing, minimizing resource consumption and reducing ETL runtime. Data Transformation: Implement complex data transformation logic based on business requirements using DataStage stages, functions, and utilities. Job Monitoring & Maintenance: Monitor, debug, and maintain existing ETL jobs, ensuring jobs run as scheduled and addressing any failures or performance issues. Data Validation & Testing: Perform data validation and unit testing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data transformations. Resolve issues related to data quality and integrity. Documentation: Document the design, architecture, and flow of data processing systems. Provide detailed instructions and best practices for the team. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data architects, analysts, and DBAs, to ensure seamless data integration solutions. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement in ETL processes and participate in system upgrades, migrations, or enhancements to IBM InfoSphere DataStage. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience working with IBM InfoSphere DataStage or other ETL tools. Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in IBM InfoSphere DataStage and its various components (Designer, Director, Administrator). Experience with data integration, transformation, and ETL processes. Expertise in SQL and relational database concepts. Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and ETL best practices. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN). Experience with job sequencing and scheduling tools (e.g., IBM Workload Scheduler, Cron). Knowledge of integration with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus. Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and focus on quality.
