Job description: Seeking a qualified professional ServiceNow QA Engineer. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of IT Service Management Operational processes on the ServiceNow platform. The selected candidate will collaborate with a Product Owner and cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into comprehensive test strategies. Your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and execute test cases using the ServiceNow Test Management, Automated Test Framework (ATF) and validate the functionality, and performance of development and testing activities. We are expecting this individual to strike the perfect balance between deep technical expertise and exceptional interpersonal skills.

In this role as a ServiceNow QA Engineer, the candidate should bring to the table extensive experience in agile testing. They will be the guiding force for a multidisciplinary team, guaranteeing the unparalleled quality and consistency of products developed on the ServiceNow platform. Your primary responsibility will be to shape, motivate, and energize stakeholder teams and process owners. As a shield for the ServiceNow team, you'll ensure that testing participants remain sharply focused on critical testing tasks, guiding them towards testing processes, scopes, and deadlines. The successful candidate will be expected to cover a 24x7x365 shop as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members. They will also be expected to work a hybrid schedule that includes working on-site a minimum of 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

Define best practices and standard processes for test management and test execution

Develop / design manual test cases

Lead discussions and actively communicate with the ServiceNow development team and process owners for test management and test development activities

Decompose user stories to develop and design robust test cases and complete test scenarios

Ensure that individual test cases in ServiceNow are linked to requirements / user stories

Develop automated test cases in ATF for upgrades and other activities

Report bugs and defects and ensure effective processes are in place for tracking and addressing these

Coordinate with developers and Product Owner for peer review of test design strategy, automated test cases, and adoption/adherence of standards and best practices

Perform/support unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing activities

Performance testing and/or support of performance testing may be required

Identify the gaps in the test cases and create the missing requirements / test cases for the gaps

Provide product, skill training and best practices knowledge to other team members for test management and automation

In-depth Review: Scrutinize requirement specifications and technical designs, offering feedback to ensure foundational quality

Plan Creation: Develop structured test plans that encompass a full spectrum of testing scenarios

Scripting & Automation: Collaborate with test analysts on script development, emphasizing ATF test creation

Project Coordination: Estimate, prioritize, and coordinate testing activities efficiently

Drive Excellence: Supervise all testing phases, directing defect resolution, and maintaining quality, especially during platform upgrades

Stay Updated: Stay abreast of ServiceNow platform updates and commit to ongoing professional development

Strategy Development: Formulate testing strategies, placing emphasis on Test Driven Development (TDD)

Team Coordination: Lead cross-team testing efforts and liaise with developers to enhance user stories. Ensure sessions are conducted for complex stories, facilitating collaboration between testers, Business Analysts, and developers

Data Analysis: Gather, analyze, and report on testing metrics to provide actionable insights

Risk Management: Recognize, assess, and communicate risks, ensuring stakeholders remain informed, and escalate when necessary

Customer Centricity: Pursue avenues to enhance customer satisfaction and foster stronger client relationships

Work closely with developers to troubleshoot and resolve defects, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining the integrity of the platform

Maintain documentations and Knowledge articles related to testing processes

Acts as the testing SME and QA point of contact for IT Service Management Operations

Adds value to client by providing consultation in regards to testing strategy and improvement initiatives

Required Skills & Experience

3+ years of experience and proficiency developing, implementing, and executing data-driven or keyword driven testing frameworks using testing tools like ServiceNow ATF, Selenium, Coded UI Test (CUIT), Unified Functional Test (UFT), etc. to facilitate test automation.

5+ years of experience and proficiency in implementing and executing testing strategies, plans, methodologies, and frameworks in support of Agile / SAFe / DevOps / DevSecOps development methodologies.

Test Lead / Management experience. Define / Develop test strategies, test plans, KPIs, metrics, defect management and reporting

Ability to translate requirements / user stories into in-depth test cases

Ability to define / develop data management strategy and plans

Ability to define / develop individual as well as end-to-end test scenarios

Strong cross functional collaboration

Preferred Skills & Experience

 ServiceNow Automated Test Framework Fundamentals

ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and/or or Developer

qTest Automation Specialist 1

Automation Specialist Level 1 (Tricentis)

Test Design Specialist Level 1 (Tricentis)

Core Systems: qTest, qTest Desktop Explorer, Tosca, Vision AI, TDS and DEX

Integrated Systems: Jira, LiveCompare, Sauce Labs and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins

Exposure to Java, C#, Selenium, Appium, Webservices/API are preferrable

Agile (SCRUM) Development Methodology

Jira

SDLC Methodology

ITIL Standards

Experience with programming languages, i.e., Javascript, XML, HTML, CSS, Angular, REST

Education Required

4-yr College Degree preferably in IT Technical/Professional
