This position requires a highly skilled individual with expertise in Cisco routing and switching, network design, and strong troubleshooting abilities. You will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and expanding network infrastructure, while ensuring the security and performance of the network. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical knowledge and creativity, able to work independently and collaboratively to meet departmental objectives. Key Responsibilities: Respond to Tier 1 network support requests and resolve break/fix issues associated with network resources in a timely and efficient manner. Design extensions to the campus network and configure/deploy new or replacement network hardware and communications infrastructure. Maintain up-to-date project and architecture documentation as well as inventory and maintenance records. Monitor network resources for faults and traffic anomalies, ensuring a stable and high-performance network. Resolve connection issues between users and resources, providing a seamless network experience. Support efforts to improve cybersecurity controls and defenses, assist with threat hunting, and mitigation activities. Support ITS Field Maintenance teams with communication implementations and troubleshooting. Maintain detailed change history for network changes and configurations. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure optimal resource management and meet service and support objectives. Required Skills and Experience: 8 years of experience with Cisco Routing and Switching. 5 years of experience in VLAN Management, Network Design, and Network Monitoring. 8 years of experience in Access Control Lists and Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc.). 10 years of experience in Subnetting and DNS/DHCP. 5 years of experience with VPN & Remote Access Technologies and Authentication methods (Radius, TACACS, etc.). Experience with STP, VTP, and Multicast. 5 years of experience with FMC/Firepower and Wireless Technologies is a plus. 8 years of experience in Network Security is a nice-to-have. Skills & Qualities: Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills, capable of interacting with stakeholders at varying levels of technical expertise. Ability to manage time effectively and work within resource constraints.
