In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing mainframe systems and applications. You will work closely with IT and business leaders to assess needs, develop solutions, and ensure the stability, scalability, and efficiency of our mainframe environments. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mainframe technologies, architecture principles, and industry best practices, coupled with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead technical teams. Key Responsibilities: Design and architect mainframe solutions to meet the business needs, ensuring system reliability, performance, and security. Banking customer is planning to modernize its legacy (mainframe) systems around financial accounting area, there is a requirement for kind of discovery phase completion, prior to modernization (conversion into JAVA code) program Responsible to cooperate closely with core mainframe customer team and assess how the current legacy systems are working, what are the key functionalities, are there some inefficiencies in systems Oversee the implementation and integration of mainframe systems, coordinating with development, infrastructure, and operations teams. Develop and maintain mainframe architecture frameworks, standards, and best practices to support scalable and efficient solutions. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, assess existing environments, and recommend innovative solutions. Lead and mentor a team of mainframe engineers and developers, providing guidance and ensuring alignment with architectural goals. Ensure system documentation, architecture designs, and operational standards are consistently maintained and updated. Conduct system performance analysis, identify bottlenecks, and optimize mainframe performance and capacity. Evaluate new technologies and frameworks, providing recommendations to enhance mainframe capabilities and align with business objectives. Ensure adherence to security and compliance standards, implementing best practices for mainframe data protection. Requirements: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in mainframe environments, with a focus on architecture and system design. Mainframe (COBOL) experience - architect/analyst, Java, financial banking systems, architectural/solution design experience, communicative, organized, cooperative Banking experience required Experience with mainframe modernization and integration with distributed systems or cloud environments. Proficiency in mainframe performance tuning, capacity planning, and systems management. Familiarity with DevOps practices and automation tools in mainframe environments.
