Job Description: BA/Product Owner with Railroad Location: Jacksonville, Florida Contract Long Term Ideal: Knowledge of Railroad train control systems (e.g., dispatching, route optimization or "meet / pass planning", positive Train Control, CBTC, ATC, ERTMS) Interesting: Railroad operations, railroad IT Systems, Transportation Management Experience at CSX, Union Pacific, BNSF, Norfolk southern, Canadian Pacific, Canadian National, Kansas city Southern, "Short-line" railroads, passengers railroads, etc. Acceptable: Fright transportation (trucking, aviation, Oceanic shipping), crew planning, intermodal operations, air. seaport operations Description Qualified applicants will have 5-8 years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented below BS in Engineering or Computer Science - Electrical Engineering preferred Advanced Degree preferred, Masters, PhD, or MBA Technical knowledge of operations concepts in rail industry, rail products, dispatch systems and other Backoffice rail systems Strong experience in systems design of PTC products for North American Class-1 Freight Railroads Competency with requirements management tools, preferably Polarion or DOORS Knowledgeable in standards, process, and methods for Requirements Engineering Experience with safety and security critical systems Customer-oriented mindset Effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with others in person and off-site. Strong technical analysis skills Excellent technical writing skills Develops the detailed, specific, technical requirements for a large-scale complex Dispatch system. Manages technical requirements in a requirements management tool (Polarion) and ensure the requirements are properly traced to various technical artifacts (e.g., design, test, RAMS). Supports the UX experts in the user interface design process and documentation. Supports project management in the change and scope management process. Displays a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or multi-functional problems within the rail dispatch system domain. Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of railroad operations to the successful definition of complex dispatch system topics.
