Remote VDI Engineer

6 month Contract to hire (Candidates has to go hybrid work after the conversation so relocation can also work)

Attached is a JD we have for a client that is looking for a contract to eventual hire VDI engineer. Client would like someone that either lives in MT, KS, WY, TX or OK (or eventual relocation). Typical first time contracts are 6 months, could be up to a year.

Job Summary: We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Citrix Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our dynamic IT team. This role will focus on managing and optimizing both on-premise and cloud-hosted Citrix environments, including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, as well as Citrix ADC (NetScaler) configurations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Citrix technologies, demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, and be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Environment Management: Design, implement, and maintain Citrix environments (both on-premise and cloud-based) to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

NetScaler Administration: Configure and manage Citrix ADC (NetScaler) to optimize application delivery, enhance security, and improve load balancing.

Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level support and troubleshooting for Citrix-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and effective resolution of user concerns.

Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze system performance, providing recommendations for improvements and capacity planning.

Documentation and Best Practices: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration guides, and operational procedures.

Collaboration: Work closely with network, security, and application teams to ensure seamless integration of Citrix solutions within the IT infrastructure.

Training and Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to junior staff and IT team members on Citrix technologies and best practices.

Stay Current: Keep abreast of the latest Citrix updates, industry trends, and emerging technologies to ensure the organization's systems remain modern and efficient.

Skills - Necessary:

Deep understanding of supporting on-prem and cloud hosted Citrix environments

Deep understanding of building and supporting Netscalers

Experience with both persistent and non-persistent VDAs

Experience with building applications with App Layering

Experience with Citrix policies

Experience creating and running Citrix disaster recovery programs

Windows 11, Server 2022

Ability to do in-depth troubleshooting and root cause analysis

Basic Power knowledge

Experience with FSLogix profile management

Skills - Nice to haves:

Experience running Citrix workloads on Nutanix

Experience with running VOi with Nvidia graphics cards

Experience administering ControlUp

Experience with Group Policy

Experience with cloud-hosted VDAs

Experience supporting Citrix in offline environments

Advanced Power knowledge
