Title: Voice/Telecom Network Engineer            

Location: San Diego (70% remote. Must be available to go onsite at hospitals or facilities to troubleshoot and interact with customers directly.)

Candidate MUST live in San Diego.

Visa: No Sponsorship

JOB SUMMARY:

Minimum Experience Required:

7 Years Experience designing, implementing, managing, and supporting Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks that include support of a heterogeneous distributed desktop computing environment comparable to SHC's.           

Provide technical support of the data communications network at our client to allow for the effective and efficient use of distributed computing resources while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Regulatory Requirements

Completes and maintains all regulatory requirements including licensing and certification, and other mandatory training within established time frames. Submits documentation 2 weeks prior to evaluation or as appropriate. Requirements may consist of, but are not limited to TB Testing, Safety Test, Compliance Training, HIPAA Training, Licensing and Certification.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor's Degree           Computer Science, or related field            Preferred, not required.   

License and Certification Requirements:

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification

             Challenges: Many candidates are qualified in networking but lack telecommunications experience.

             Technical Skills:

o             Cisco Call Manager (CUCM)

o             CCNA certification required

o             Aruba is a plus

             Projects:

o             Initial familiarization with all sites in the county.

o             Understand the Sharp enterprise and the support needed.

o             Shadow an InSOC engineer to learn troubleshooting.

o             Start with smaller projects and team up with an engineer.

o             Customer Interaction: Frequent phone or face-to-face interaction with doctors, nurses, and admin staff.

o             Larger Projects: Involved in designing new hospitals and facilities, including determining the number of phones needed.

             Training Program: Learning additional add-ons supported by Sharp. Need to be able to speak about all 17 additional applications.

             Team Size: 10 members in the Telecom team.

             Team Structure: No network engineer 1. Network engineer 2 is the majority, a few network engineer 3s, and technical solutions architects. Territories include East county, central, north, and south. This role is for replacing a network territory engineer.

             Role Type: Backfill.

             Department Insights:

o             Managed by Steve for 7 years.

o             Focused on detail-oriented documentation and high standards.

o             Provides onsite training programs.

o             Supports communication across Sharp enterprise.

o             Subject matter experts in telecom.

o             Customer-facing role, potentially intimidating, involving emergency rooms and interactions with nurses and doctors.

o             Technical skills and people-facing abilities required.

o             Hospital background ideal but not required.

             Interview Process:

o             Initial Call: 15-30 minutes with the lead senior telecom engineer to ensure mutual understanding and fit.

o             Panel Interview: 1.5-hour meeting (video or in person) with the team, involving technical questions.

             Submission Requirements: Sharp cover page required on all submissions. Complete the interview grid for the next 2 weeks. Incomplete submissions will be rejected.
