Job Title: API Developer Location: New York City (Hybrid) Duration: 12+ Months Domain-Payment Key Responsibilities API Design & Development: Design, build, and maintain RESTful and/or SOAP APIs for payment processing and financial transactions. Ensure APIs are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance. Collaborate with front-end and back-end developers to integrate APIs effectively. Develop APIs to support payment gateways, processing, and reconciliation systems. Integrate APIs with third-party payment providers and fintech platforms. Ensure compliance with industry standards such as PCI-DSS and other financial regulations. Work closely with product managers, architects, and QA teams to gather requirements and validate API functionality. Implement automated tests to ensure API reliability and accuracy. Monitor API performance and resolve issues related to latency, scalability, and security. Continuously optimize existing APIs to improve efficiency and response times. Required Skills & Qualifications Strong experience in API development using programming languages such as Java, Node.js, In-depth understanding of RESTful APIs, SOAP APIs, and API versioning. Experience with API gateways (e.g., Apigee, AWS API Gateway, or Kong). Familiarity with payment protocols (e.g., SWIFT, ACH, ISO 20022) and fintech applications. Proficiency in working with databases such as SQL or NoSQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB). Experience with OAuth, JWT, and other authentication/authorization mechanisms. Knowledge of API testing tools like Postman, Swagger, and automated testing frameworks. Understanding of security best practices in API development, including encryption and data protection.
