Title: Cognos Administrator Visa: Any Visa(No H1-B) Location: Houston, TX End Client: National Oilwell Varco Senior Cognos BI Administrator Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Cognos BI Administrator to manage and support complex multi-host environments with high-performance configurations. This role focuses heavily on administration, system optimization, and troubleshooting to ensure the stability and efficiency of the Cognos BI platform. Key Responsibilities: Administer and support IBM Cognos BI environments across multiple hosts, ensuring optimal system performance and uptime. Configure and maintain Cognos environments, including server installations, upgrades, patches, and security settings. Monitor and manage system performance, resource allocation, and capacity planning in large distributed environments. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Cognos BI servers, services, and applications in a timely manner. Manage deployments and migrations of Cognos content across environments. Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to optimize server configurations, including load balancing and clustering. Perform regular system health checks, backups, and disaster recovery planning to ensure data integrity and system reliability. Document and implement administrative best practices, standards, and guidelines for Cognos BI environments. Qualifications: Extensive experience in administering and supporting IBM Cognos BI environments with large-scale, multi-host configurations. Strong expertise in performance tuning and capacity planning for systems with high core counts Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues in Cognos environments, including server and application-level problems. Hands-on experience with deployments, migrations, and maintaining environments across multiple tiers. Solid understanding of infrastructure components, including load balancing, clustering, and network configurations. Familiarity with Cognos security, user management, and role-based access. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Experience with automation and scripting for administrative tasks (e.g., Power, scripting). Knowledge of enterprise-scale reporting and analytics best practices. Exposure to related BI tools and platforms.
