Job Title: Systems Engineer Location: Northern Virginia, Washington DC, or Baltimore (3 days office and 2days remote hybrid) Experience: 8+ years Visa:USC,GC,GC-EAD.TN,H4-EAD,L2-EAD Must have six (6) years of experience in systems engineering. Must work well with others and is willing to do what it takes to meet agency IT goals. Ability to communicate complex information to technical and nontechnical users, including management. Ability to quickly analyze problems, interprets operational needs, and resolve or escalate problems in a timely manner as well as ability to provide real time support for system issues. Must have solid experience with scripting languages and automation software. Must have experience with monitoring systems. Must have solid experience in the administration of and performance tuning of application and web servers. Must be capable of performing installations, upgrades, testing, and maintenance of servers which includes installing new software releases and system upgrades, evaluating, and installing patches, and conducting application migrations, refreshes, and restores. Must be capable of administering application and web servers. Develop custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks. Review and check application performance for potential bottlenecks, distinguish possible solutions, and work with developers to execute those fixes. Performing high-level root-cause analysis for service interruption recovery and creating preventive measures. The Systems Engineer will be developing, installing, configuring and maintaining technical infrastructure, hardware and system software components. Works directly with internal and external clients to ensure that system problems are resolved in the most expeditious manner possible. Must be capable of analyzing information requirements. Develops appropriate corrective action. A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline or eight (8) years of equivalent experience in a related field. A Masters Degree in one of the above disciplines equals one year specialized and two years general experience.
