Job Title Cloud Engineer Duration 6 months contract Location Irvine, California Onsite role - Local ONLY - MUST HAVE IRVINE ADDRESS ON DL COPY USC GC ONLY - LinkedIn - MUST HAVE IRVINE ADDRESS ON DL COPY Onsite in Irvine Kubernetes is the hard requirement and GCP - must US Citizen or Green Card Local to Irvine The candidate must have at least 4 years of experience in Kubernetes. This is on-site position 5 days a week. We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Native Engineer with deep expertise in designing and implementing cutting-edge cloud-native solutions for our Innovations organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building and managing scalable, distributed systems and applications using cloud-native patterns. They must have experience with Kubernetes, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) ecosystem, and the design of complex workloads, including AI/ML, event-driven architectures (EDA), databases, and data orchestration solutions. This role requires a solid understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC), automation, scripting, and modern DevOps practices. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain cloud-native deployment solutions for applications, databases, and data orchestration pipelines. Work with team to plan, implement, and manage Kubernetes clusters and workloads for scalability, reliability, and security. Develop and manage platform for event-driven architectures (EDA), including streaming data, real-time analytics, and event processing. Enable automated deployments of ETL pipelines, data orchestration, and AI/ML workloads, optimizing for cloud environments. Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation to automate infrastructure provisioning. Collaborate closely with Development/DevOps team members to create and optimize CI/CD pipelines, develop containerized microservices, and ensure excellent monitoring and observability. Troubleshoot, optimize, and automate cloud infrastructure to improve the performance and reliability of systems. Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, workflows, and operational runbooks. Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in cloud-native computing and infrastructure automation. Ensure that all cloud infrastructure complies with industry standards and regulations (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001). Implement best practices in cloud security, identity management, and data protection. Optimize cloud resources and services to maintain budgetary goals while ensuring performance. Requirements: 5+ years of experience in cloud-native architecture and design, with a strong background in cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure. Extensive experience with Kubernetes and knowledge of the CNCF ecosystem (e.g., Helm, Istio, Envoy, ArgoCD, Grafana, Fluentd, Loki, Prometheus, Longhorn, OPA, Knative, Crossplane, etc.). Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures (EDA) and event streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Flink, Confluent). Proven experience designing, deploying, and managing ETL pipelines and data orchestration tools (e.g., SSIS, Matillion; Apache Airflow, Prefect, Dagster). Familiarity with AI/ML workloads in the cloud, including designing scalable and efficient AI pipelines. Familiarity with relevant tools for data management, model development, model training, model serving, monitoring & lifecycle management. Strong skills in infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, and CloudFormation. Proficiency in automation and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Go. Solid understanding of cloud security best practices, including network security, encryption, secrets management, firewalls, WAFs, and identity & access management. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (e.g., Docker), and microservices architecture. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identifyt efficient, cost-effective, and scalable cloud-native solutions. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications in AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud environments. Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and integrating them into production workloads. Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.
