Role: SAP ABAP Technical Lead Location: Chicago, IL (only Locals) Duration: Contract Experience: 13+ years Visa : Only H1B with Passport Number Role Description: Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the development of SAP ABAP objects and solutions, including reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms, and workflows. Establish and enforce coding standards, development best practices, and quality assurance measures. Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Design, develop, and implement custom SAP ABAP programs to meet business needs. Provide advanced debugging, troubleshooting, and optimization for ABAP code. Work closely with functional consultants, project managers, and business stakeholders to deliver end-to-end SAP solutions. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with other SAP modules (FI, MM, SD, etc.) and third-party systems. Mentor and guide junior ABAP developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning. Assign tasks, review code, and ensure timely delivery of development projects. Perform system upgrades, patches, and performance tuning to ensure optimal system performance. Provide post-go-live support and resolve production issues. Research and implement emerging SAP technologies, such as ABAP on HANA, CDS views, OData, and Fiori. Identify opportunities to improve existing processes and systems, driving innovation within the SAP landscape. Qualifications: Strong hands-on experience with SAP ABAP, including reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows (RICEF). Proficiency in advanced ABAP concepts like Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), BAPIs, BADIs, and user exits. Experience with ABAP on HANA, including CDS views, AMDP, and performance optimization techniques. Knowledge of SAP Fiori/UI5 development and OData services is a plus. Strong understanding of SAP development tools (e.g., ABAP Workbench, Eclipse). Familiarity with Agile methodologies, version control systems (e.g., Git), and CI/CD practices. Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of developers. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in SAP ABAP development and at least 5 years in a technical leadership role.
