Position: Azure Data warehouse Architect (Remote) Location: Remote Duration : 6+ months Note ---- May require some travel within the United States. Job Description : This is an architect / tech lead position, so they are expected to know everything about everything as it relates to Data Warehousing on Azure. We have specialized around Databricks, EventHub, Azure SQL, PowerBI, and other related technologies. They need to fully understand backup/recovery, operating in a resilient environment across multiple Azure GovCloud regions, and it would be highly helpful if they fully understand security requirements for FedRAMP HIGH / FISMA HIGH security in the Azure GovCloud.as that affects their architectures. The Azure Data Warehouse technical lead implements and manages the operational aspects of cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions built on Microsoft Azure PaaS platforms Candidates for this role should understand all concepts covered in Exam DP-900: Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals. Candidate will provide expertise and ownership of Azure Databricks database development tasks within a scrum team. Interacts effectively with clients and leadership, and can adapt communication for the appropriate audience. Reads and comprehends software requirements, assisting with development of agile user stores and tasks. Assists with troubleshooting database configuration and performance issues Assists with Databricks deployments, testing, configuration, and installation. Assists with performance tuning Ensures security is a priority and understands the various areas where security vulnerabilities arise with database technologies Ensures data resiliency, and disaster recovery capabilities Comprehensive understanding of backups, restores, redundancy, geo-replication and Azure storage concepts. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Creates detailed documentation for the database. Facilitates knowledge sharing within the team for effective collaboration. Essential Skills and Experience Required: 5+ years proven experience working with Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, and other relational database technologies supported in Azure Strong experience with relational and/or dimensional data modeling Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Explorer, Azure Event Hubs, Spark Pools, Dedicated/Serverless SQL Pools, PowerBI, Azure Landing Zones, Azure Networking Services, AAD/EntraID Strong familiarity with NoSQL technologies such as Azure Cosmos DB is a plus Experienced with Azure geo-redundancy, HA/failover, Datasync technologies Experienced with log-shipping and database disaster recovery Strong experience with performance tuning and optimization (PTO) Strong expertise and experience with Azure DevOps tools in an Azure production setting. Strong experience with Azure Data Studio, Visual Studio database management/projects/design capabilities, Azure CLI, and Power Azure Database Administrator will need to have expertise in T-SQL and Stored Procedures. Experience with SQL Server versions 2005 2022 is a plus Experience running and troubleshooting SSIS packages Experience with Oracle, either in Azure or on-prem, is a plus Strong and current familiarity with Azure platforms and services, including Azure App Services, Azure API Management, Azure Monitor, Azure Application Insights, Azure SQL, etc. Familiarity and hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform is a plus Familiarity with programming languages such as Visual Studio, C# or Python and data constructs such as JSON or XML is strongly desired Strong understanding of security best practices for Azure database deployments, including, access controls, IAM, data encryption (TDE), Azure key vaults and masking. Awareness of FedRAMP, FISMA, and/or Zero Trust Architecture strongly desired.
