Payment Product Manager & Technical Manager

Responsibilities

Product Management:

Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of payment technology products, including vision, strategy, roadmap creation, and delivery.

Act as the primary contact for intake processes to DevOps teams and own technical product roadmaps for complex, cross-platform solutions.

Partner with stakeholders (business, internal/external collaborators, and leadership) to understand customer experiences, identify areas of opportunity, and develop strategies to address them.

Lead the management of product backlogs, grooming sessions, and prioritization with business and technology partners.

Address and resolve challenges affecting the customer experience, spanning technical, functional, process, and policy considerations.

Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and manage product releases while ensuring alignment with business needs and timelines.

Develop and communicate payment processing and acceptance strategies to technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.

Facilitate the certification process for host and EMV/chip requirements in compliance with mandates from domestic payment networks.

Train team members on certification and payment processes to maintain high levels of proficiency.

Maintain and update test tools, licenses, and documentation to support ongoing certification and compliance needs.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to payment processing and customer impact.

Technical Skills

Strong expertise in OOP, .NET, Java, and Android development, with a focus on integrated and semi-integrated POS solutions.

In-depth knowledge of payment processing, including EMV, tokenization, chargebacks, PCI compliance, and fraud prevention.

Hands-on experience with enterprise software design, business process modeling, and user story grooming in tools such as Rally, Jira, and Jira Align.

Experience with card-not-present and card-present payment processing.

Knowledge of acquirer processing, networks, and US/Canadian payment systems.

Familiarity with EMV tags and certification processes, including L3 certification and compliance with payment network mandates.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

10+ years of product management experience in an Agile software development environment, with a strong focus on customer experience.

10+ years of hands-on experience in technical writing, coding, solution engineering, or technical architecture.

Proven track record of managing client accounts, handling escalations, and driving account growth.

Deep knowledge of domestic payment networks (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, Discover and Amex).

Formal training or certifications in EMV standards are a plus.

Experience managing certification and compliance processes for payment systems.

Manage client accounts, including overseeing timesheets, Profit & Loss (P&L), and driving account growth.

Serve as the primary point of contact for client escalations, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution of issues.

Develop and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for farming the accounts and proposing innovative payment solutions.

Collaborate with clients to understand business needs, craft tailored solutions, and support their payment technology transformation.

Provide strategic input on payment solution roadmaps to align with client objectives and industry trends.
