Title: Solutions Architect Location: Denver, Colorado Description: The Senior Solutions Architect is assigned to projects or initiatives that involve a major application or set of applications. The Senior Solutions Architect assumes a technical architecture and people leadership role. The Senior Solutions Architect will lead efforts as an expert and work lead on leveraging technology, innovation, and thought leadership to provide scalable solutions to complex and diverse business problems. Functions: Agency (Business) & OIT Applications Services, Development & Support Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS) Chief Data Office Data Center Services Database Services Deskside Support & Services Digital Transformation OIT Architecture Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Apps for Government Mainframe, System & Server Administration Network & Voice Services Public Safety Communications Network (includes the Digital Trunked Radio System [DTRS]) Security Operations & Access Control Services Engagement Required tasks to fulfill primary responsibility: Promote the understanding of OIT Architecture and industry standard patterns and practices. Mentor and coach other OIT architecture staff to ensure consistent delivery of quality industry-standard solutions. Capture and share best-practice knowledge with the solution architect community. Ensure that intellectual assets created during the delivery process are captured and evolved in the knowledge base in a manner that is reusable and relevant, including delivery and process models, sample project plans, sample deliverables, estimating and cost models, and resource allocations. Community outreach with the technology architects in the appropriate Colorado communities and internally. Capture and share best practice knowledge with the solution architect community. Ensure that intellectual assets created during the delivery process are captured and evolved in the knowledge base in a manner that is reusable and relevant, including the delivery and process models, sample project plans, sample deliverables, estimating and cost models, and resource allocations. Plan initiatives with OITs functional area teams based on budget, approaches, and infrastructure to the OIT architecture governing principles and identify when it is necessary to modify underlying business processes or the OIT architecture standards to accommodate needs. Understand the OIT funding model and align technology initiatives to ensure the highest return on investment (ROI) based on available budget, while understanding and ensuring the long-term requirements for sustainable service. Maintain currency in technologies and trends through research. Maintain awareness of current and future work efforts across the enterprise and identify opportunities for implementing innovative solutions. Research and recommend solutions that meet the requirements of the customers and align with annual agency work plans, OITs enterprise strategy, and the OIT Playbook. Track initiatives evaluate the effectiveness of the planned solutions and recommend alternative solutions when needed. Provide thought leadership in emerging trends as they relate to business process development and execution. Maintain and establish technical contacts with IT industry leaders to pioneer innovative technologies, ideas, and structures within OIT. Translate complicated technical plans into clear, business value-added proposals, which are compelling and effectively communicated using a variety of methods and forums.
