From: John Richardson, Themesoft Inc [email protected] Reply to: [email protected] Role: Technical Business System Analyst Location: Remote Job Summary We are looking for a dynamic Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with strong technical expertise to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions. The BSA will work closely with stakeholders, development teams, and technical architects to analyze business processes, gather requirements, and contribute to system design and implementation. The role requires a solid understanding of both business workflows and technical systems to drive successful project outcomes. Key Responsibilities 1. Requirements Gathering & Analysis Collaborate with business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document detailed business and system requirements. Translate high-level business needs into functional specifications and technical requirements. Use techniques such as process mapping, flowcharts, and data modeling to document current and future state systems. Analyze system processes and identify areas for automation, optimization, and improvement. 2. Technical Collaboration Work with development and architecture teams to ensure the proposed solutions align with technical and business objectives. Partner with software engineers, database administrators, and other technical teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Provide input on system design, including API integrations, data flow diagrams, and overall system architecture. Collaborate with QA teams to define test scenarios and ensure proper system testing, including user acceptance testing (UAT). 3. Systems Implementation & Support Assist in system design, configuration, and implementation of new applications or enhancements. Act as a liaison between technical teams and end-users during the system development lifecycle. Support system integration initiatives, including APIs, third-party tools, and enterprise applications. Troubleshoot issues, analyze root causes, and provide solutions for technical problems post-implementation. 4. Data Analysis & Reporting Analyze and interpret large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvements. Develop queries using SQL to extract and analyze data from various systems and databases. Create reports, dashboards, and insights using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar. Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across systems. 5. Documentation & Communication Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including business requirements documents (BRD), functional specifications, user stories, and workflows. Conduct stakeholder presentations, system demonstrations, and project updates. Prepare training materials and user manuals to ensure successful adoption of new systems or features. 6. Project Management Support Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables. Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and contribute to backlog grooming. Track project progress, identify risks, and work towards resolving blockers with cross-functional teams. Required Technical Skills Business Analysis Tools: Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar for requirements management and collaboration. Experience creating detailed process flow diagrams using tools like Lucidchart, Visio, or Draw.io. SQL and Databases: Strong knowledge of SQL for querying databases and analyzing data. Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server. Data Analysis & Reporting: Proficiency with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Excel Pivot Tables for reporting purposes. Understanding of data modeling and analysis techniques. System Integration: Experience working with APIs, web services, and system integrations. Understanding of technologies like RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and middleware tools. Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git. Technical Documentation: Ability to write clear and concise technical and functional specifications. Cloud & Other Tech Skills (Optional, based on project needs): Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Basic scripting or programming knowledge (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or scripting) would be a plus. Required Soft Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Collaboration and team-building mindset to work with cross-functional teams. Educational Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. Certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMI-PBA (Professional in Business Analysis) are a plus. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst in a technical role. Experience working on enterprise systems, ERP solutions, or SaaS platforms. Knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and project management tools like JIRA. Familiarity with cloud technologies, DevOps processes, and modern software architectures.
