Position Summary:

We are seeking a Junior QA Consultant to join the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) team. In this role, under broad supervision, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of custom applications and GIS components, supporting the testing efforts for GDOT's system development projects. This position requires strong experience in testing, developing test plans, test cases, and collaborating with multiple teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Note:
 This role is subject to annual budget restrictions, with the initial contract running through the end of this fiscal year and potential renewal in July.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform testing for custom applications and GIS components.

Develop, document, and execute detailed test plans, test scenarios, and test cases.

Analyze test results, report issues, and work on problem resolution with the development and business teams.

Support an Agile development environment, ensuring testing is aligned with sprint cycles and deadlines.

Ensure adherence to QA standards and metrics, ensuring test cases are properly documented.

Collaborate with business partners, project management offices (PMO), and vendor technical teams to understand business requirements and testing needs.

Track and report on testing progress, risks, and issues, keeping management informed of bottlenecks or obstacles.

Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scenario development and facilitate testing with business stakeholders.

Participate in defect triage meetings and product demos.

Provide weekly status updates to the Quality Assurance Testing Lead.

Required Skills & Experience:

General Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in software testing and QA for system development projects.

Hands-on experience in creating and executing manual and automated test scripts.

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Experience with defect management tools (TFS/JIRA) and version control systems (GitHub).

Proficient in creating Test Cases, Test Results, and Requirement Traceability Matrices (RTM).

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Technical Expertise:

Experience with system testing, regression testing, performance/load testing, security testing, and disaster recovery testing.

Familiarity with mobile device testing is a plus.

Experience with agile methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Ability to prepare and manage test data for different testing scenarios.

Tools/Software:

Experience using tools such as GitHub, ServiceNow, TFS, JIRA.

Education & Certifications:

Education:
 Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field.

Certifications:
 Preferred, but not required:

International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB)

Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE)

Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST)

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in public sector IT projects.

Experience in testing GIS applications.

Knowledge of test automation frameworks is a plus.

Familiarity with working in cross-functional teams and on large-scale system development projects.
