This role involves managing the release lifecycle while leveraging BASIS skills to ensure optimal system performance, landscape consistency, and seamless deployments. Key Responsibilities: Release Planning and Coordination: Define and manage the SAP release management process, including schedules, release scopes, and deployment strategies. Collaborate with project managers, functional teams, and technical teams to align release activities with business priorities. Plan and oversee system maintenance windows and downtimes for major releases. BASIS Expertise: Manage and monitor SAP system landscapes, including system copies, upgrades, and patching. Ensure optimal performance, stability, and availability of SAP systems across development, quality, and production environments. Resolve BASIS-related issues during release cycles, including transport errors, performance bottlenecks, and configuration conflicts. Transport and Change Management: Oversee the end-to-end transport process across SAP systems, ensuring proper sequencing, dependencies, and approvals. Utilize SAP tools like ChaRM, CTS+, and Solution Manager to streamline change management and transport handling. Enforce compliance with change control policies and ensure audit-readiness of release activities. Risk Management and Quality Assurance: Identify risks associated with releases, including system downtime, conflicts, and performance impacts, and implement mitigation plans. Collaborate with QA teams to validate release readiness through thorough testing and validation activities. Conduct root cause analysis for release-related issues and implement corrective actions. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary contact for SAP release and BASIS activities, providing updates and reports to stakeholders. Lead release readiness and post-release review meetings, sharing insights and lessons learned. Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, external partners, and leadership. Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and implement automation tools and scripts to enhance release efficiency and accuracy. Stay updated on SAP BASIS advancements, tools, and methodologies to optimize landscape management and deployments. Proactively identify opportunities to improve the release management process. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain comprehensive documentation for release activities, including technical specifications, transport logs, and deployment plans. Ensure all release activities comply with organizational policies, ITIL standards, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 10+ years of SAP experience, including 5+ years in release management and strong expertise in BASIS administration. Hands-on experience with SAP system landscapes, including S/4HANA, ECC, and cloud-based solutions. Deep understanding of transport management, system refreshes, system copies, upgrades, and patching. Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager (ChaRM), CTS+, and Focused Build. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex BASIS issues. Preferred Skills: Experience with ITAR compliance in SAP landscapes. Knowledge of cloud-based SAP platforms, including SAP BTP and hyperscaler hosting environments. Certification in Solution Manager, or ITIL. Familiarity with automation tools for SAP release and transport management.
