How many years working with: Palo Alto Firewalls Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Security Firewall Engineer with extensive experience in Palo Alto Networks technologies to join our IT infrastructure team. This role involves designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing network firewall solutions to ensure the highest levels of security, performance, and availability across our enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Palo Alto Networks products, a proactive problem-solving mindset, and a commitment to maintaining robust network security in a dynamic business landscape. Key Responsibilities: Firewall Management & Operations: Design, configure, and maintain Palo Alto firewalls to secure enterprise networks. Monitor and analyze firewall logs to detect and mitigate potential threats. Perform routine updates, patches, and firmware upgrades to ensure optimal firewall performance and security. Network Security Design & Implementation: Develop and implement firewall rules and policies in alignment with business and compliance requirements. Conduct risk assessments and ensure security configurations adhere to industry best practices and organizational standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design secure network architectures. Incident Response & Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level support for network security incidents, including troubleshooting firewall-related issues. Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to reduce recurring incidents. Advanced Configuration & Optimization: Utilize Palo Alto features such as App-ID, User-ID, and Threat Prevention to enhance security posture. Implement and manage VPNs (site-to-site and client-to-site) using Palo Alto platforms. Optimize firewall performance through fine-tuning and regular reviews. Monitoring & Reporting: Set up and manage monitoring tools (e.g., Panorama) for centralized management and reporting of Palo Alto firewalls. Generate and present detailed reports on network security metrics, incidents, and performance trends. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate documentation of firewall configurations, change requests, and standard operating procedures. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and participate in internal/external audits. Mentorship & Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers and security team members. Stay updated on emerging threats, firewall technologies, and best practices, sharing insights with the team. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 7+ years of experience in network security engineering, with a focus on Palo Alto Networks technologies. Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Panorama, GlobalProtect, and related products. Proficiency in configuring and managing advanced firewall features such as App-ID, Content-ID, User-ID, and Threat Prevention. Deep understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VPNs, etc.) and security frameworks. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and integrating Palo Alto firewalls in hybrid environments is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure. Certifications (Preferred): Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer ( PCNSE) Cisco Certified Network Associate ( CCNA) or equivalent Certified Information Systems Security Professional ( CISSP) Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
