Job Description - Job Title: Sr Network Engineer Duration: 6+ months Location: Atlanta, GA Engineer to Architect Level Consultant This role is HYBRID - located in ATL Metro area - it will require some client onsite (actual location: Lawrenceville, GA) time. Not necessarily every week. But the person MUST be located in the ATL area. The candidate for this role MUST have: Current and in-depth experience in Fortinet and Extreme Networks Switches. MUST have deep Fortinet knowledge Experience with extreme switches and configuring for VLAN Seeking an experienced Network Engineeror Architect with deep expertise in Fortinet security solutions and Extreme Networks technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex, high-availability network infrastructures, ensuring they are secure and scalable. Network Architecture Design: Design and implement enterprise-level network solutions using Fortinet and Extreme Networks technologies to meet business needs and ensure high availability and performance. Fortinet Solutions: Deploy, configure, and manage Fortinet products including FortiGate firewalls, Forti Switch, Forti Analyzer, and Forti Authenticator. Implement advanced security policies, firewall rules, VPNs, and threat prevention mechanisms. Extreme Networks Solutions: Design and implement networking solutions using Extreme Networks switches, routers, and access points. Manage and optimize Extreme Cloud IQ and Extreme Management Center (XMC) for network automation and orchestration. Network Security: Ensure the highest levels of network security by integrating Fortinet and Extreme security policies. Conduct regular network security assessments, vulnerability scans, and threat mitigation practices. Troubleshooting and Optimization: Provide high-level support for network issues, including performance troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and network optimization. Monitor network performance and ensure capacity planning and performance tuning. Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams to integrate network infrastructure with servers, storage, and cloud platforms. Partner with security teams to ensure compliance with organizational and industry security standards. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and processes. Generate regular reports on network performance, security incidents, and improvement recommendations. Qualifications and Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Certifications: NOT A MUST but definitely a nice to have Fortinet NSE 4 (minimum), NSE 7 or NSE 8 (preferred). Extreme Networks certifications (e.g., Extreme Certified Specialist or Extreme Certified Expert) Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in network design and architecture. Strong expertise in Fortinet and Extreme Networks products and solutions. Experience in deploying and managing multi-site, enterprise network environments. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Fortinet firewalls, VPN, IPS, and security policies. Hands-on experience with Extreme Networks switches, access points, and Extreme Cloud IQ. Solid understanding of network protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, QoS). Experience with network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible, etc.) is a plus. Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and SD-WAN solutions. Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
