Job Title: Sr. Database Engineer Job Location: 100% Remote role USC GCEAD H4EAD only NO GC Contract Duration: 12 Months of Contract role Important Note Skills Matrix: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field ( 7+ years of experience in database engineering or administration. Senior level knowledge of database development using SQL Server and Azure Strong exp with Azure SQL Strong exp with Cosmos DB Strong exp with Azure SQL Managed Instances Advanced T-SQL & Query Optimization Proficiency in Azure Data Factory to support cloud-based data solutions. Experience with SSRS, Power BI, and ETL processes using SSIS is a plus No more than 2 jobs in last five years Study work history at medium sized companies Required: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in SQL Server & Azure Database. Must have strong focus on Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Azure SQL Managed Instances. Advanced T-SQL & Query Optimization: Deep expertise in T-SQL development and advanced query optimization, enabling efficient and scalable database solutions. Azure Data Factory & DevOps: Proficiency in Azure Data Factory and DevOps practices to support cloud-based data solutions. Bonus Skills: Experience with SSRS, Power BI, and ETL processes using SSIS is beneficial but not a primary focus. Responsibilities: Database Design & Development: Lead the design, development, and optimization of high-performance databases, creating scalable and reliable data structures in both Azure and on-premises SQL Server environments. Advanced SQL/T-SQL Development: Develop complex stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, and constraints to support robust and dynamic database solutions, utilizing advanced SQL and T-SQL techniques. Performance Tuning & Optimization: Conduct performance tuning and query optimization using SQL Profiler, Performance Monitor, and related tools to improve database efficiency and responsiveness. Azure Database Management: Manage and optimize Azure SQL databases, Cosmos DB, and Azure SQL Managed Instances, leveraging Azures capabilities for resource management, security, and high availability. Database Architecture & Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement efficient, scalable database architectures for both on-premises and cloud-based environments, applying best practices for performance and reliability. Operational Support & Reliability: Oversee critical database operations, including backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions, to ensure data integrity and availability across SQL environments. Documentation & Process Improvement: Document database development processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing overall database performance and maintainability. Plus: Provide support for data integration using Azure Data Factory and SSIS and offer expertise in reporting with SSRS and Power BI when required. Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
