Job Description

Define and Track ROI Metrics

Develop standardized frameworks to quantify the

performance and ROI of AI/ML projects across various

healthcare domains.

Establish baselines, targets, and monitoring processes to measure project impact that help guide ongoing investment decisions.

AI/ML Performance Evaluation

Construct and maintain robust

performance dashboards and reports highlighting AI/ML model accuracy, precision, recall, and other project-specific metrics such as operational effectiveness, cost savings, and patient outcomes.

Analyze model performance and operational metrics to identify trends, anomalies, and areas of improvement.

Work closely with other data scientists and the software engineering team to drive the implementation of model retraining, adjustments, and fixes as needed.

Data Analysis and Dashboard and Report Development

Utilize programming languages like

Python and SQL to build and maintain production-level code necessary for defining and tracking ROI and AI/ML performance metrics.

Create data exploration, cleaning, transformation scripts as necessary to support defining robust metrics applicable to each AI/ML projects across diverse healthcare data sources (e.g., EHR data, claims data, patient outcomes).

Employ statistical techniques necessary to draw conclusions about AI/ML solution effectiveness and evaluate the tangible benefits of AI/ML projects in the areas of patient care quality, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with clinicians, administrators, IT professionals, and executive leadership to identify pain points where AI/ML can drive high-impact solutions.

Communicate technical findings and ROI implications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Collaborate with teams to integrate data science solutions into existing workflows and measure post-implementation success.

Continuous Improvement

Stay current with emerging trends in machine learning and healthcare analytics, recommending enhancements to data science and ROI tracking methodologies.

Actively contribute to the growth and development of HMHs data science team culture by sharing best practices.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Education & Technical Expertise

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.

Expertise with Python and SQL for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and AI/ML model evaluation.

Expertise in building dashboards in tools like Tableau or Looker Studio

Proficiency in machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and performance evaluation.

Healthcare Knowledge

Familiarity with

electronic health records (EHR) systems, healthcare data structures, and relevant industry standards (e.g., HIPAA).

Understanding of key healthcare metrics (e.g., readmission rates, hospital-acquired conditions, length of stay).

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

Proven track record of designing and tracking clear

ROI metrics for AI/ML initiatives.

Experience extracting insights from large and complex datasets.

Ability to identify critical issues, propose data-driven solutions, and measure outcomes.

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement

Strong communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to varied audiences.

Demonstrated ability to influence and build relationships across clinical, operational, and technical teams.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred

Masters degree or PhD in Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, or related field.

Experience with the Google Cloud Platform, git, GitHub, Docker.

Experience building dashboards in Looker Studio.

In-depth knowledge of Python statistical analysis tools and frameworks.

Familiarity with the Epic Clarity data model.

Licenses and Certifications Required/Preferred

Required: None specific to this position, although the individual must maintain compliance with HMH and regulatory standards.

Preferred: Epic Clarity clinical data model certification; any Google Cloud Platform certifications.
