Has primary responsibility for telecommunications services including the management, installation, maintenance and quality of switching and associated voice and data circuits, devices and equipment. Responsible for strategic planning, forecasting, engineering, operation and maintenance of telecommunications-related software and hardware. Consults with technical and administrative personnel to resolve telecommunications problems of new or existing systems. Coordinates with vendors and contractors the planning, design and implementation of communication networks and systems. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED DEGREE Successful completion of an approved and recognized four (4) year telecommunications technician apprenticeship program pursuant to attaining Journeyman status in installation and maintenance. REQUIRED CERTIFICATION(S) REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE # YEARS Candidates ACTUAL Years of Experience Presently employed with Cook County as a Telecommunications Electrician Foreman is required. Full-time working experience on telecommunications systems. 10 Working knowledge of voice and data networks which includes routing and design.
