Job Title: 5G Access Network Workload Migration Engineer Location : Denver, CO Hybrid Experience Level: Mid to Senior-level Reports to: Project Manager Network Infrastructure Migration Job Overview We are seeking skilled engineers to lead the migration of our 5G Access Network workload from VMware to Wind River CaaS (Cloud as a Service) platform. This role involves in-depth technical expertise in 5G network architectures, virtualization technologies, and containerized solutions. The successful candidates will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless migration while maintaining service performance, reliability, and security. Key Responsibilities Migration Planning : Develop and execute a comprehensive migration strategy for transitioning workloads from VMware to Wind River CaaS. Assess current VMware infrastructure and identify dependencies, constraints, and optimization opportunities. Implementation : Set up, configure, and validate Wind River CaaS environments for the 5G Access Network. Migrate workloads, including VNFs (Virtual Network Functions) and CNFs (Cloud-Native Network Functions). Ensure compatibility and performance tuning during the migration process. Testing and Validation : Conduct rigorous functional and performance testing of workloads post-migration. Resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with industry standards. Collaboration : Work closely with network engineers, cloud architects, and the operations team to align migration activities with business objectives. Collaborate with vendors (Wind River) for troubleshooting and advanced feature enablement. Documentation and Support : Create detailed technical documentation, including migration plans, configurations, and lessons learned. Provide post-migration support to ensure operational stability. Required Qualifications Technical Expertise : Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization technologies, including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi. Strong knowledge of Wind River Studio and Wind River CaaS Platform. Familiarity with 5G Access Network components and architectures (CU, DU, RU). Proficiency in containerization technologies, including Kubernetes and Docker. Skills and Tools : Expertise in migrating workloads from virtualized to containerized environments. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform). Knowledge of networking protocols and standards used in 5G. Educational Background : Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware VCP, Kubernetes CKA, or Wind River-specific training) are a plus. Soft Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to dynamic project requirements. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in telecom network transformation projects. Familiarity with Open RAN concepts and technologies. Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
