Job Description:
As a member of the Application Services team, the Application Developer is responsible for the design, development, testing, integration, deployment and maintenance of a broad array of applications and ancillary systems. The Application Developer will primarily be assigned to our Financial Systems team, but may work on other projects as needed or assigned. General responsibilities include: work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts in the development of project plans, elicitation of detailed application requirements for new system functionality, maintain existing programs, conduct root cause analysis of problems or system bugs, develop system documentation and conduct unit, system or functional testing of assigned applications. The Application Developer establishes and maintains collaborative partnerships with constituents within IT Services and campus departments to implement new system functionality or to improve existing student systems. The Application Developer may also conduct research and evaluate emerging IT trends, software tools/products or methodologies to foster continual improvement of application development lifecycle activity. Additionally, the Developer will provide after hours/oncall support on a rotational basis or as assigned.

The focus should be on somebody who knows mainframe COBOL / CICS / JCL / DB2 (database) and especially the usage of ENDEVOR tool to code migration to production (UCLA uses endeavor) and if that person knows how to use Go Anywhere tool for transferring files from mainframe to stakeholder that would be great.

Project or Assignment summary:

The Mainframe Developer will primarily be assigned to our Admissions & Student Records team to work on the maintenance and Operation tasks of Admissions and Student records, but may work on other projects as needed or assigned.
General responsibilities include: work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts in the development of project plans, elicitation of detailed application requirements for new system functionality, maintain existing programs, conduct root cause analysis of problems or system bugs, develop system documentation and conduct unit, system or functional testing of assigned applications. The Mainframe Developer establishes and maintains collaborative partnerships with constituents within IT Services and campus departments to implement new system functionality or to improve existing student systems. The Mainframe Developer may also conduct research and evaluate emerging IT trends, software tools/products or methodologies to foster continual improvement of application development lifecycle activity. Additionally, the Developer will provide on call support during the day time or as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:
Five or more years of application programming experience using COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, TSO and JCL within a z/OS environment; ability to analyze and design complex applications independently.
Have experience using ENDEVOR for code migration on the mainframe and GoAnywhere tool for file transfer
Ability to design applications considering application performance and usability; able to optimize application to improve system performance.
Ability to develop design documentation Including functional requirements, user requirements, technical requirements, use and test cases, traceability matrixes, specifications, etc.
Excellent technical, analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills with self-motivation and willingness to learn new concepts, technologies, and processes.
Possess the verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization; ability to use standard English grammar and punctuation.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering OR three years of relevant professional experience and education.
Provide technical assistance and guidance to the design, development, integration, and deployment of application software.
Knowledge of n-tier distributed technologies such as Java, J2EE, JSP, JDBC, HTML, XML, SOAP , RESTful API s, SQL, JavaScript and TypeScript, Angular, SDLC, ALM, AWS, and object-oriented and database design concepts. (preferred)
Experience working within higher education information technology. (preferred)
