Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Cloud Engineer to join our team in a contract, hybrid role. In this position, you will be responsible for leading the creation of strategic Cloud Platforms, empowering teams, and fostering adaptive mindsets. You will play a key role in designing and implementing cloud-native and multi-cloud platforms, leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), Kubernetes, and Zero Trust architecture. Your expertise in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) will be critical in building resilient, scalable, and high-performing cloud platforms. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimize performance, enhance system architecture, and drive innovation. You will stay at the forefront of cloud technologies, containerization, Kubernetes, and cloud engineering practices, further specializing in these areas. Responsibilities Lead the design, deployment, and management of cloud-based solutions, including Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) initiatives using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible. Participate in the entire lifecycle of Cloud Platform engineering, CloudOps, and developmentfrom architecture and hands-on implementation to documentation and support. Develop and implement cloud architecture best practices to optimize performance, cost, and security, with expertise in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Collaborate with software development teams to integrate cloud services and support CI/CD pipelines, utilizing containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes. Conduct regular audits and assessments of cloud environments using monitoring and logging tools like Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, or cloud-native options to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with industry standards. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to cloud engineers and team members, demonstrating a strong understanding of networking concepts, security protocols, and cloud security best practices. Foster a culture of automation-first among team members and lead automation efforts to streamline provisioning, deployment, configuration management, and monitoring processes. Evaluate new cloud technologies and tools to enhance capabilities and drive innovation, staying updated with the latest industry trends and advancements. Lead incident response and troubleshooting efforts related to cloud infrastructure issues, demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and present technical solutions in a clear and understandable manner. Requirements Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 9+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, with a focus on cloud infrastructure design and management. Strong proficiency in cloud platform management, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Experience designing cloud architectures with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and CloudFormation. Hands-on experience in designing and implementing full-stack/microservice infrastructure using IaC best practices. Understanding of secure software development methodologies and a Code First mindset. Strong working knowledge of the CI/CD process, including debugging, testing, and integration of software tools. In-depth knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools. High level of expertise with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana) for cloud environments. Solid understanding of networking concepts, security protocols, and best practices for cloud security. Strong scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash). Proven ability to collaborate closely with other teams, including software development, DevSecOps, data engineering, infrastructure engineering, and IT support operations, to ensure seamless integration of cloud services with other systems. Expert-level industry certification(s) in Cloud Environments (e.g., Azure, AWS). Leadership experience is preferred.
