Center Tech Lead Developer W2
Location: REMOTE
(EST or CST preferred)

What does the structure/makeup
of the team currently look like 

-         
Alpha Team org is a mix of 10 scrum
and Kanban teams, roughly 33% employee, 66% vendor. Total team size if about
111 people.

What will this contractor be
accomplishing for your team

-         
Providing technical leadership in the
PolicyCenter maintenance/prod support space for 1-2 teams. 

What will this contractor be working
on / are there specific projects 

-        The work is maintenance (enhancements)
as well as production support work involving triaging, analysis, work around
development, and breakfixes for the Guidewire PolicyCenter application. The
team supports the entire breadth of the Commercial Lines policy admin system,
including all business segments, products, integrations and functions of the
application

What
makes this role stand out / what are some unique selling points

-         
There is a
great deal of variety in this role, since we have 9 lines of business being supported
and over 200 integration points. 

-         
The team
regularly rotates developers and tech leads to different functions/teams within
the overall Alpha Team. This helps build T-skills, and keeps people from
getting stale and bored. 

Describe your expectations for training once
a worker starts and expected ramp up.

-         
Worker will be setup with a
mentor/buddy who will help the new worker complete an onboarding checklist. The
checklist covers expected trainings for the first week, first 30 days, out to
90 days.

What type
of development will this contractor be doing (Back end, front end, full
stack) and what will they be responsible for developing 

-        Back and front end development
of the Guidewire PolicyCenter application. 

What type
of application will they be developing Will this contractor primarily be
working on new development or maintaining the current environment 

-         
Guidewire PolicyCenter
is a packaged COTS application. The worker will perform a mixture of
maintenance enhancements, as well as some breakfixes and incident analysis
work.

Will this
contractor be testing the application/software they are developing 

-         
As a good
engineering practice, we expect all software engineers to unit and integ test
the features they are developing. However, functional and regression testing is
performed by dedicated Quality Engineering staff.

What
programming languages do you want this contractor to have experience with (How

of experience in Guidwire/GOSU

5+ years
experience in Java/J2EE or .Net applications

with/how will they be interacting with these tools in this role

with Web Services (SOAP and Rest)

Hands-on
experience with Java and J2EE technologies, such as, Java Web Services, JMS,
JSP, XML,JSON, JDBC etc

What type
of background should this contractor have in order to meet the needs of your
team Do they need to hold a specific degree or certification 

    -          Bachelors degree in computer Science or related field

    -         Guidewire
PolicyCenter certifications

Responsibilities:< /SPAN>

Provide technical leadership, enforcing the vision of the

application architecture and integrity of the application environment in
alliance with architects and other tech leads 

Participate in development; oversees code reviews and sets

standards for development practices 

Partners with the project team to provide estimates, quality and

accuracy of technical designs, build and implementation. 

Understand and implement the overall technical vision for projects,

programs and systems, keeping in mind cross-functional impacts,
integration across the organization and architecture rationalization. 

Mentor, coach and train team members and peers, both internal and

vendor partners, to enforce development guidelines and best practices. 

Work closely with the architecture team to ensure that the

technical solution designs and implementation are consistent with the
architectural vision. 

Develop code that conforms to The Hartford coding standards and

industry best practices. 

Work closely with development team, BAs, App managers, QA test

leads and architects using Agile methodology. 

Oversee technical deliverables, coaching and mentoring of junior

developers and provide technical leadership for same. 

Understand and implement the overall technical vision for projects,

programs, or systems, keeping in mind cross-functional impacts,
integration across the organization and architecture rationalization.

Qualifications:

5+ years experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter configuration and

integration development using GOSU with PolicyCenter v 7.0/8.0/10. 

5+ years of experience developing web based Java/J2EE or .Net

applications. 

Experience leading software development teams. 

Bachelors degree in computer Science or related field. 

Hands-on experience with Java and J2EE technologies, such as Java

Web Services, JMS, JSP, XML, JSON, JDBC etc. 

Experience with Web Services (SOAP and Rest) 

Experience with Spring Batch/Boot a plus. 

Experience with containerization and experience in cloud

infrastructure environments like Openshift AWS, Azure is an advantage 

Experience working in the security domain a plus. 

Experience with Oracle and SQL Server relational database

technologies. 

Knowledge of open source database technologies is beneficial 

Experience with JBoss 

Experience with continuous integration and DevOps methodologies,

preferred tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Rally, SonarQube etc. 

Familiar with Agile methodology 

Demonstrate skills in shaping and leading development of technical

specifications 

Strong problem solving and analysis skills 

Demonstrated ability to complete tasks within established timelines 

Strong relationship building skills

KEY REQUIRED SKILLS:

Top 3 Must Haves: 

    1. 5+ years of Guidewire PolicyCenter 

    2. 5+ years of Java/J2EE or .NET 

    3. 5+ years of Agile

development experience
