Job Description -

Title: IT DESKTOP SUPPORT

Location: Onsite (Manhattan, NY)(Locals only)

Visa: USC/GC only 

Linkedin is must 

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK SOME NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS. 

RTR required  /  Duration: 6 mo plus / OT eligible

Power must 

Some experience in building Power scripts from scratch is mandatory in addition to strong Desktop skills.  Manager is willing to pay over bill rate to secure these skills on the team.  Apparently, they want to automate certain Desktop Support tasks using Power.   Our 4 candidates who interviewed today did well but are not under consideration because they lack Power.  

MANDATORY 

1)EXCELLENT DESKTOP SUPPORT and TROUBLESHOOTING SKILLS FOR HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE (E.G., MS OFFICE SUITE) ISSUES. 

2)4 + YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN

   -WINDOWS 10 AND 11.

   -MS OFFICE 365 TEAMS, ONEDRIVE, SHAREPOINT ONLINE AS WELL AS MS OUTLOOK.

  - DEALING WITH VPN AND TCP/IP TROUBLESHOOTING,  PROXY SERVERS / FIREWALLS.

3)EXPERTISE IN POWER SCRIPTING to AUTOMATE TASKS (eg., move files from folder to folder, SW installation, etc.).  See notes below 

4) EXPERTISE IN OTHER TOOLS INCLUDING one or more of following:  

   a) KNOWLEDGE OF ENTRA*, INTUNE, ACTIVE DIRECTORY, AND AZURE. 

   b) FAMILIARITY WITH NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS AND TOOLS LIKE PING AND RACEROUTE****. 

   c) PROFICIENT IN SUPPORTING PYTHON, INCLUDING IDE SETUP, ANACONDA**, LIBRARY MANAGEMENT, AND PIP*** 

4) Financial Services experience / Some Experience supporting trading or front office groups a big plus  

NOTES/DEFINITIONS

Power is a powerful scripting language and automation tool widely used in desktop support to streamline repetitive tasks, enhance troubleshooting, and manage IT environments efficiently. Heres how it helps automate desktop support work:

1. User and System Management

Managing User Accounts: Automate account creation, modification, and removal in Active Directory (AD).

Required Skills



Strong understanding of Windows operating systems and software installation.

4+ years of experience and expert understanding in Windows 10 (11 released in 2021).

Proven experience in software and hardware troubleshooting and maintenance.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite troubleshooting.

4 + years of experience in

MS Office 365 Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online as well as MS Outlook.

dealing with VPN and TCP/IP Troubleshooting.

dealing with Proxy Servers / Firewalls is helpful 

Some expertise in scripting with Power, including the use of various modules for automation of deployment tasks is mandatory 

Some Financial Services experience

Working knowledge of DNS, internet infrastructure, and IP informational tools is helpful 

Strong knowledge of Entra, Intune, Active Directory, and Azure.

Familiarity with network diagnostics and tools like ping and traceroute is helpful

Proficient in supporting Python, including IDE setup, Anaconda, library management is helpful 

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Must be able to work some nights and weekends.

Preferred Skills: 

Experience supporting trading or front office groups.

Knowledge of IT security best practices and risk mitigation.

Familiarity with vulnerability management tools like Tenable, with experience in addressing desktop vulnerabilities.

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Client, or equivalent.
