As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for utilizing your expertise in data analysis, geospatial data, and advanced technologies to derive insights that contribute to the advancement of agricultural science. You will work on complex problems, leveraging a wide range of data sets, including geospatial data, and apply machine learning and statistical methods to help guide strategic decisions in the agriscience sector. Your work will be integral to developing data models, visualizations, and insights for optimizing agricultural processes, improving crop management, and enhancing sustainability efforts. A solid understanding of geospatial data handling, strong programming skills, and proficiency in cloud-based technologies will be essential to your success. Key Responsibilities: Perform advanced data analysis, statistical modeling, and create predictive models to support decision-making in agriscience. Process, analyze, and visualize large-scale geospatial data from various sources to derive actionable insights. Develop and maintain custom geospatial modules and libraries in Python, specifically using packages like xarray and rioxarray. Design, implement, and deploy scalable data pipelines and workflows using containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as cloud infrastructure (AWS ECS). Write efficient and reusable SQL queries (Trino) to manage and query complex datasets. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, engineers, and domain experts, to understand business needs and provide data-driven solutions. Build and maintain automated workflows for continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) using GitLab CI/CD pipelines. Create insightful visualizations and dashboards to communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders. Keep up-to-date with the latest research, trends, and technologies in data science, agriscience, and geospatial analysis. Document all processes, code, and methodologies to ensure transparency and maintainability. Required Skills and Qualifications: Minimum Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in data science or a related field, with significant experience in the agriscience or agriculture domain. Geospatial Data Expertise: Deep understanding of geospatial data formats, processing, and analysis techniques. Familiarity with geospatial libraries like xarray, rioxarray, and other Python-based GIS tools. Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in Python, with experience developing data analysis pipelines and custom modules. Cloud Technologies: Hands-on experience with AWS ECS, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-based infrastructure for deployment and orchestration. Data Management: Solid understanding of SQL, with hands-on experience querying large datasets using Trino or similar systems. CI/CD Experience: Strong experience working with GitLab CI/CD pipelines, automating deployment processes, and managing version control. Data Visualization: Proven ability to generate and present complex data insights using visualization tools and libraries (e.g., matplotlib, seaborn, plotly). Analytical Mindset: Ability to approach complex problems methodically and derive actionable insights from large datasets. Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
