The candidate must live in Wisconsin for the duration of the contract (start to end). Relocation is allowed, but the candidate must complete relocation before starting the contract. Occasional (~ 5%) onsite work will be required. START / END: 03/10/2025 06/30/2025 with the possibility of extension. The state cannot post any job beyond the end of the current fiscal year (so while many/most jobs at the state could run multi-year, they all are capped to the current fiscal year to start). DETAILS: The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) is seeking an experienced Database Administrator III to join its Database Administration team. The selected candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and managing databases to ensure optimal performance, data integrity, security, and availability in compliance with DCFs policies and business requirements. As a member of the DBA team, the candidate will: Support Oracle Data Warehouse database schemas, including reverse and forward engineering data structures. Create and edit PL/SQL statements to support the application development team. Manage application databases hosted on Exadata Oracle 19c in multi-tenant architecture. Write and support Linux & Windows CMD Scripts. Ensure database security, integrity, and compliance with government regulations (IRS Pub 1075, PII, data encryption). Collaborate with development architects, developers, analysts, and infrastructure teams. Use Oracle database management tools such as TOAD, OEM, SQL Plus, Data Pump Import/Export, and SQL Developer. Assist in database tuning, performance optimization, and troubleshooting issues as needed. Maintain a highly available and secure database environment. Soft skills required: Strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Adaptability and proactive learning approach. REQUIRED SKILLS: Oracle Data Warehouse schema support (8+ years) PL/SQL development (4+ years) Exadata Oracle 19c (multitenant architecture) (1+ year) Linux & Windows CMD Scripting (4+ years) Database tuning and maintenance (8+ years) Oracle database security, synonyms, roles, and privileges (8+ years) Database monitoring tools (5+ years) Oracle 12c and 19c expertise Experience with enterprise-class, mission-critical applications NICE TO HAVE SKILLS: Microsoft SQL Server (2014, 2016, 2019) SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Integration Services (SSIS) Informatica and Erwin Model Mart Business Objects Understanding of data encryption & government security regulations Certified Oracle DBA (preferred) BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience INTERVIEW PROCESS: Phone and web-based interviews will be conducted. An in-person interview may be required. Interviews will be scheduled shortly after the posting closes. Candidates must provide three (3) business references, including one supervisory reference. Weekend maintenance work required. The selected candidate must sign all onboarding documents and complete DCF security training. Criminal background check & fingerprinting required. DCF does not sponsor work visas. No reimbursement for travel expenses. This position is budgeted for 1,960 hours annually (prorated for the first year).
