The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with DB2, AS400 (IBM iSeries), database administration, and system management. This role requires a strong understanding of both database administration and the administration of the AS400 systems, ensuring their optimal performance, reliability, and security. Key Responsibilities: Administer and maintain AS400 (IBM iSeries) systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of the operating system and hardware. Perform database administration tasks for DB2 for iSeries (DB2/400), including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and disaster recovery. Monitor system performance, implement optimizations, and ensure efficient database operations. Plan and implement database migrations, upgrades, and patches on AS400 systems. Design and implement database schemas, manage security, and maintain user access controls. Ensure database integrity, availability, and scalability by applying best practices for database management. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to DB2 databases and AS400 system performance. Collaborate with other teams (e.g., developers, infrastructure) to design and implement system upgrades, patches, and enhancements. Conduct performance analysis and implement tuning for optimal database performance. Develop and maintain system documentation for DBA and AS400 processes, including database schemas, backup procedures, and disaster recovery plans. Monitor, log, and address any incidents related to AS400 system downtime or database errors. Provide on-call support for AS400 systems and database management as needed. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience). 5+ years of experience in Database Administration (DBA) and AS400 (IBM iSeries) system management. Strong experience with DB2 for iSeries (DB2/400), including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and high availability configurations. Deep knowledge of AS400 system architecture, including operating system management, hardware maintenance, and security administration. Experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting on AS400 platforms. Proficiency in SQL and scripting for system automation and database queries. Strong understanding of system security best practices and user management on AS400. Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery processes, including High Availability (HA) solutions. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on AS400 and DB2 databases. Ability to collaborate effectively with other IT teams, including developers, network administrators, and infrastructure teams. Preferred Skills: Experience with iSeries Navigator and other AS400 management tools. Knowledge of MIMIX or other high availability (HA) solutions for AS400. Experience with iSeries Web Administration and modern web-based interfaces for AS400 systems. Experience working with cloud environments or hybrid environments involving AS400. Familiarity with ITIL framework and processes for system management. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
