The ideal candidate will play a critical role in developing custom software components and integrating open-source code to solve complex time-series analysis challenges, utilizing state-of-the-art Big Data and Cloud technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a hybrid environment alongside a talented team of engineers. Candidates should be capable of working autonomously and solving problems efficiently while aligning with the broader strategic goals set by our Architects. U.S. citizenship is required for this position. Key Responsibilities: Serve as a systems integrator, identifying opportunities to enhance, optimize, and improve the robustness of the existing codebase. Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure within AWS. Design and implement core architecture and capabilities for software, from prototype to operational applications. Work closely with Architects and team members to drive the strategic direction and resolve complex technical issues. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required; a current security clearance is not required initially but will be processed by the client. Education & Experience: 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering or Software Development (Python or Java) with a Bachelor's in a related field; OR 3+ years of relevant experience with a Master's in a related field; OR High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 9+ years of relevant experience. Strong experience developing infrastructure in AWS. Deep understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, and applications. Proficiency in /Bash scripting is required. Experience with Kubernetes or its vendor flavors. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per week at the Columbia, MD office. Flexibility to adjust to schedule changes is essential. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience or familiarity with DISAs Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems (e.g., Clouderas Hadoop, Hortonworks, MapR). Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Gitlab-CI, Travis-CI). Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and associated tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, GitLab). Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, or build tools like Maven. Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., oVirt, Proxmox, VMware). Additional Information: Security Clearance: Not required on the first day, but the candidate will undergo the clearance process.
