Title: Test Automation lead Location: Bay Area, CA Only local candidate Job Type: Contract Job Description: Key Responsibilities: Automation Strategy & Framework Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and reusable automation frameworks. Define automation test strategies and best practices. Evaluate and implement appropriate test automation tools. Test Planning & Execution: Develop and execute automated test scripts for web, mobile, and API testing. Ensure test coverage for functional, regression, performance, and security testing. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines. Collaborate with manual QA teams to transition from manual to automated testing. Leadership & Collaboration: Mentor and guide automation engineers in best practices and framework usage. Work closely with development teams to ensure testability of applications. Participate in code reviews, defect triaging, and risk analysis. Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in automation coverage and efficiency. Monitor and analyze test results, troubleshooting failures, and improving scripts. Stay updated with the latest automation tools, trends, and techniques. Required Qualifications: Education & Experience: Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in test automation and QA, with at least 2 years in a lead role. Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming/scripting languages like Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#. Expertise in automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, Cypress, Playwright, TestNG, JUnit. Experience in API testing tools like Postman, RestAssured, Karate. Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD. Strong understanding of software testing methodologies (Agile, BDD, TDD). Experience with cloud-based testing platforms (Sauce Labs, BrowserStack) is a plus. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Preferred Qualifications: ISTQB Certification or equivalent. Experience in performance testing (JMeter, Gatling). Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
