Job Title: SingleStore DBA with Python Location: Austin, TX (Onsite) Job Type: Contract Visa Type: Open to H1B authorization typesJob Overview: We are seeking an experienced SingleStore Database Administrator (DBA) with strong Python programming skills to join our team in Austin, TX. This role is primarily focused on managing and optimizing SingleStore (formerly MemSQL) databases, writing Python scripts for automation, and supporting database-driven applications and performance tuning.Key Responsibilities: SingleStore Database Administration: Install, configure, and maintain SingleStore databases in production and staging environments. Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring scalability and efficiency. Manage backups, disaster recovery, and database security within the SingleStore environment. Perform routine database maintenance and ensure high availability of the system. Performance Tuning: Troubleshoot performance issues, optimize queries, and improve database efficiency. Utilize query profiling tools to fine-tune SQL queries for performance. Automation & Scripting: Write Python scripts to automate database monitoring, backups, maintenance tasks, and alerts. Develop and integrate Python-based solutions for database automation (e.g., data pipelines, batch jobs). Work with CI/CD tools to integrate automated tests and deployment processes for database management. Collaboration & Support: Work closely with software engineers, DevOps, and data teams to ensure database availability and integration with applications. Provide support for application-level database issues, assisting in troubleshooting and problem resolution. Database Migration & Optimization: Assist in migrating data between different environments and platforms, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal downtime. Optimize data models and workflows for high-volume data ingestion and retrieval. Monitoring & Reporting: Set up and maintain monitoring systems to track database performance, health, and user activity. Generate reports and dashboards related to database metrics for internal stakeholders. Documentation: Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, and Python scripts.Required Skills and Experience: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of experience working as a Database Administrator (DBA), with a focus on SingleStore or other distributed databases (e.g., MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL). Strong SQL skills for querying, optimizing, and maintaining large datasets in SingleStore. Solid experience in Python programming, specifically for automating database-related tasks and integrations. Experience with data modeling and performance tuning in SingleStore databases.
