Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance, query tuning, and index management to ensure efficient performance. Backup & Recovery: Implement and maintain database backup strategies, and perform regular backups, restores, and recovery processes. High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Design, implement, and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, and Replication. Security Management: Implement and maintain database security, including user permissions, encryption, and auditing. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues such as performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, and connectivity issues. Automation: Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine tasks such as backups, indexing, and maintenance plans using T-SQL, Power, or other automation tools. Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to provide support for database design, stored procedures, triggers, and queries. Documentation: Maintain documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures. Capacity Planning: Monitor database growth and plan for future resource needs, including storage, memory, and CPU requirements. Competencies: Database Technology Essential Skills: Experience: 10+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA. Database Versions: Hands-on experience with SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019, and/or SQL Server 2022. Performance Tuning: Strong experience in performance tuning and query optimization using tools like SQL Profiler, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, and Dynamic Management Views (DMVs). Backup & Recovery: Expertise in designing and implementing backup and recovery strategies. HA/DR Solutions: Experience with implementing and maintaining high availability and disaster recovery solutions like Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, and Replication. Security: Knowledge of database security best practices, including encryption, authentication methods, and role-based access control. Scripting: Proficiency in T-SQL, Power, or other scripting languages. Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Certifications (Preferred): Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Data Management and Analytics, or similar.
